Not so, it works! The instruction in the user manual(open and close door many times) is wrong and won't do anything. You can only put the key in sleep mode to stop it from emitting signal.
I carried out the door routine today and a 2s beep sounded. I can also confirm that the Smart Entry and Start is completely disabled and the Keyfob no longer polls when it is near the car (led doesnāt flash) and the car wouldnāt lock/unlock using the touch areas. The fob buttons have to be used to lock/unlock the doors.
The car will not start unless the keyfob is physically presented to the start button, which results in a ābrrringā sound, after which the start button can be used as normal. Having the key in the car is no longer enough; because the keyfob isnāt polling there are no signals to say itās present, hence the need to have it touch the start button.
I did discover that trying to read the instructions and get the timing right didnāt work for me - so I recorded a voice memo and played it to myself so all I had to do was follow my instructions, āclose the door, press the unlockā¦ā etc etc. Result is that Smart (Keyless) Entry & Start is fully disabled.
Update: For those of you that may wish to try this, I have created a small instructional video on Youtube which you could play on your phone whilst in the car. Just listen to the voice and follow the instructions. I promise there is no subliminal messaging that will get you to send me all of your worldly possessions! Muuuhahaha!
