GR86 The GR86 : Time for a reality check

Worth a shot. Do let us all know how they turns out. Probably from your hospital bed.
I will be fine.

I'll just get dressed first

Here's a free bit of advice that could probably fit into a 'reality check' scenario: When you are looking to sell a car, clean it FFS!
It's generally more pleasant for a potential customer if the inside has been vacuumed and freshened, the wheels are nicely cleaned and the paintwork/glass is shiney and clear of contaminants. Perhaps even give the engine bay a bit of a tidy up too? After all, a lot of buyers will lift the bonnet to take a look at it.
If Dealer X's car engine is filthy, with crap all over the air filter, with leaves in the engine bay nooks and crannies, bird sh*t on the exterior paintwork/windows, dirty/scuffed alloy wheels and detritus throughout the cabin, it begs the buyer to ask whether the words 'excellent condition' should have featured in the advert?! A couple of hours and a decent valet is worth your time and effort.
Here's that Reality Check - Nobody wants to buy a car that looks as cared for as a rubbish skip.

[Names and places are ficticious and bear no resemblance to local car dealerships/garages/persons either living or dead]

Totally agree, I went to look at a Peugeot RCZ-R a few years back at a Peugeot Dealer, drove great, priced right but was shocking, opened the boot and could have planted potatoes in the water drain area. The inside was also pretty awful as was the salesman so I politely declined.

The only concern I have now after reading this thread is point number 3. Iโ€™m intending on taking the car on a road trip to Italy (if the car comes in time, fingers crossed). Has anyone done a decibel check on how loud it actually is at motorway speeds?
Almost certainly not as loud as my 2008 NC Mx5 on a round trip from Cumbria to Dordogne and back. My test drive in the 86 felt quiet in comparison, but still noisier than Iโ€™d expected for a new car. But Iโ€™ll be avoiding motorways anyway :)

The level of road noise depends on the road surface you are driving on.

I haven't driven the 86 abroad yet but in my experience French and Italian road surfaces generate a lot less road noise than roads over here.

I have definitely noticed that european roads create less road noise, Portugal's are particularly quiet.

Absolutely. Maybe some of my Essex/Suffolk comrades can confirm. I drove to Clacton from Colchester Sunday morning and the concrete A120 was horrendous. I had to shout for my passenger to hear me over the road noise.

I was in Clacton two weeks ago bringing my son to a game and while its noticable on that stretch, I do have to raise my voice, but its not horrendous. I was expecting alot more road noise from how people described it.

It may have been the contrast in noise coming from the A12. Doesn't distract from my enjoyment of the car. And my 12 year old son isn't much of a conversationist at 8:30 am on a Sunday morning anyway.
