Agree - hence my confusion about why someone kept bringing it up. I dont understand how it changes one’s purchasing outlook - either way you are paying for the potential depreciation of a car upon sale, the only difference is how much money you decide to tie up into it.Agree and also who cares how you bought it. You may as well ask how people earn their money and if they pay as much tax as I do.
I am interested mate!!Agree - hence my confusion about why someone kept bringing it up. I dont understand how it changes one’s purchasing outlook - either way you are paying for the potential depreciation of a car upon sale, the only difference is how much money you decide to tie up into it.
PCP cars do tend to be slower however, namely due to the sheer weight of cash left in the owner’s wallets after they decide not to tie it up into a sports car
With regards to aftermarket parts, I do wonder if people would be interested in a group buy on wheels from USA distributors. It seems very difficult to get Rays or Advans in 86 friendly sizes here without a 12month+ lead time, however several USA distributors such as Systems Motorsport have TE37s and Advan GTs in stock in our sizes (18x9.5 et4x). Only problem is shipping can be prohibitive for just a set of four wheels. If anyone is interested let me know and I will start a separate thread.
Would also be interested in booking on a group trackday once we’re all run in and set up…
I may be wrong but I think SLs have been discontinued and replaced with Sagas - same mold but with engraved logos I’m fairly sure. If we get enough buyers we can get a container over!I am interested mate!!
Looking for a set of Te37SL.
If I go aftermarket wheels TE37s will probably be the way I want to goI may be wrong but I think SLs have been discontinued and replaced with Sagas - same mold but with engraved logos I’m fairly sure. If we get enough buyers we can get a container over!

A car that holds it’s value ‘relatively’ well does not appreciate. It would need to go up in value to do that, which it may do for a year or so the way the World is at the moment.I mean you've got 4 year old cars selling for £20-21k

That might not be appreciating in the literal sense of becoming more than it was worth originally... but this is significant appreciation when compared to average depreciation of cars using a straight-line method.
Below is an example... 4 year old motor @ £27k for a Toyota GT86 (average depreciation for Toyota's is around 36% for 3 years), should be forecourt price of £18,851... prices are around £2-3k higher than they should be.

I think with how limited the GR86 will be, purely from a timescale perspective. It will beat the average depreciation by a fair margin and technically appreciate above what it should be worth long-term.
Initially, the prices will spike, purely because of huge demand, compared to scarce supply but that will settle. Long-term I see the GR86 probably holding its value far above average depreciation. This is a great car to own, even for your wallet!
