I think it’s more down to who do they prioritise if there’s a shortage of cars and an abundance of orders (that have all been told July delivery)?

Could someone update this thread if it becomes necessary to reorder? I would expect some comms from toyota as that will entail returning the deposit.

Massively unfair as someone had found a hidden page to order from.

I was feeling quite bitter over the weekend, as I have already put a holding deposit down with a dealer and by doing the right thing I could compromise my opportunity to order.
 
Has anyone had their charge taken yet? If there hasn’t been one yet that would point to the financial system not being linked up to the front end. Which would make sense if it was a “test” site that no one should have access to yet.

I see the charge as pending on my online banking
 
Im pretty sure it was not in the test system as that would have been in a staging environment that only Toyota employees can see.

My guess it was part of their live deployment and had not linked to the page yet. They didn't expect someone to alter the URL to order the GR86.
 
Interesting. Just looked at Toyota UK’s Twitter and they were alerted to the build page yesterday and it was “news to them”. Definitely a cock up somewhere along the line

As was I and to be honest, I kind of feel for all the dealers this morning that have had phone calls from those of us that placed a holding deposit askin what was going on. I must admit I was starting to get twitchy and had to stop myself calling this morning, I get it's probably because of FOMO and abit of hype. But when you want a car enough to place a holding deposit and the idea that someone could just order one 2 days before the books had been due to open for the dealers is what caused the issue for me.

I'd never begrudge someone that decided to wait to order one on online, that's totally there choice, it was just the timeline that was the problem. (For example i now order my new Xbox games on marketplace, pre install them and hit play on launch day instead of waiting in line for a copy outside of Game (is that still a thing?))

I dont think the test page was even particularly well hidden was it, from what I remember I accessed it by clicking on the GR86 on the discover page, following the link to the finance option and then hitting configure. It's not like someone broke a password protected site or hacked into Toyota :ROFLMAO:
 
I think it’s all a bit of a lottery whatever you do, every chance someone who placed a holding deposit a year ago could miss out to someone who placed a holding deposit this weekend, if one dealer is more switched in than the other. Let’s hope there are enough cars to go round for everyone.

I did hear all the cars are already pre-built so I think colour choice and transmission will have a big bearing on if you get one. E.g. electric blue manuals could sell out well before sapphire autos - even though Toyota will have built based on best guess demand levels, I’m quite surprised at the number of electric blue orders on the poll.
 
I assume the less shouty colours would still be very popular, doubt an enthusiast forum truly reflect the overall market.

Do you have the link as to where you saw this?
 
It would make sense that the cars are already built, or planned for build.

No options, just colour and gearbox.
 
I was told last week not to worry and that I have a vehicle allocated to me after placing a deposit and completing paperwork.

Whereas just now I've been told until the order goes through to the order books there's no way to guarantee me a vehicle.

Poor communication from Toyota & the dealerships, I think 😑

I've been feeling the same over the weekend, when I could see how many people were placing orders on the Toyota website and just hoping that my order is still at the top of the list.

This thread is helping me feel better and I'll hold off calling my dealer for now.
