Event Sports Cars in the Park Castle Howard 4/9/22

On the way home I had a slightly worrying few seconds.
My car went in a couple of months ago for the recall update with the software.
Very nearly home going through the centre of Bradford. Clear ahead but traffic behind when a pedestrian walked towards the button at the lights. He was about a yard from the button and had his arm out reaching for it so he was well onto the pavement.
My car pannicked as it clearly thought he was stepping into its path and jammed all on. Yes it did very nearly come to a stop.
I have never felt a car come to a shuddering instant stop like that.
I knew what it was doing so hit the accelerator a bit to keep me moving a couple of yards as there was a car behind me.
I was shocked that the car could do that and cause an accident.
The road is a very mild bend to the right - very mild but at that instant the pedestrian probably looked like it was in front. It happened at about 10m away from him but he was well onto the pavement.
I have had the buzzing warning a few times going round mild bends with parked cars but the car stopping instantly without warning is a worry.
I am wondering if Toyota need telling about this.
Mine does it too, you're not alone. Particularly sensitive if you're following a vehicle which is turning into a left hand side road. What I judge to be a sufficiently safe distance to the vehicle appears to be much more than the car is comfortable with, and it launches into a full on emergency stop, pulling away the brake pedal and triggering the ABS usually. It's downright dangerous IMHO, but can't be switched off.
Toyota won't listen. Had the same issue with the ABS on a 2015 Fireblade which was crap, but Honda maintained there was nothing wrong with it, so end of discussion.

Thanks for that. At least I am now aware of it and hopefully be ready in future.
