GR86 Some pics of my work in progress.

Is that a Fujitsubo AR you've gone for Ninjin?
Yup, well spotted. I have a soft spot for Fujitsubo, amazing workmanship (as with all Japanese made Exhausts) but with Fujitsubo they are not loud. I'm too old for the 'boyracer' levels. I just want something louder but non-intrusive and my previous fujitsubo's were perfect noise level.

Sounds sensible, however keeping your pressures up via other means (by way of overfill like you're doing / keeping temps down) will all help of course. I'm with you on the car being for fun, you can make the car dance on 225's!😁.

Any issues on 1L overfill (white smoke etc?)

I'm waiting for the verus oil pan be available for purchase to hopefully solve these concerns, and we can all relax a little!

No adverse effects with 1l over. I think the GR Cup cars run 1l over as default spec. I'm looking forward to the solutions that will be forthcoming for this annoying issue!

It's funny how people want to go super fast in there as mediocre fast car. Spending £15k+ on it to still be slower than something you could of bought off the shelf..... I'm in it for the fun factor. I've done the 500bhp Japanese and German salons, time to enjoy driving rather than trying to kill myself! With the amount I've spent on the GR and mods, I could have easily bought a 12month old M2 Comp, which would no doubt be a much more competent track weapon than my modded GR86 ;)

That's lovely, it will be interesting to hear what it sounds like on a UK car. Im a big fan of Fujitsubo too, their stuff is beautifully built but not very popular over here (probably because they aren't cheap!)

Latest addition today. Fujitsubo cat back.

Car is still in the air waiting to sort out the oil cooler so haven't driven it. Start up is noisier but once settled sounds like stock... Exactly what people said and how I want it.

I just need some extra noise to indicate the revs by ear. Was hitting the limiter so much on the track day with the stock exhaust.

From what I've heard of sound clips online, should give a nice note under throttle but near stock at part throttle.

So.... Just completed an install of PPF on the front bumper. It is a pre-cut kit. I knew it wasn't going to be easy and had the sense to buy 2 sets. I knew deep down the first one would be the training one :ROFLMAO:

I'm no stranger to slip and an applicator squeegee, so first off I done the headlights. No suprises and film is easy to work with (never used PPF before).

Then I progressed to the bumper. I was lucky I had to take the bumper off for the oil cooler, so done it inside. Unfortunately my cars live outside and I don't have a garage large enough to park it inside.

First day, I spent 3hrs. Got as far as trying to get the sides down, left and right of the radiator grill. Realised my mistake and peeled off and gave up.

Day 2, spent 5hrs. Learnt what to use to centre the film from the mistakes yesterday. Hardest part was the sides of the rad grill as it needs be slowly stretched and stuck. Is it perfect, definitely not! But its more than good enough to stop stone chip damage and it was a lot cheaper than paying £1k for someone to do it. I reckon by attempt 5, I could be good enough to charge someone for it!

I'll pick up another 2 sets when I'm back in SE Asia in October. Next time I will definitely do it on the car, as its hard to stretch when the bumper moves.

Here's a pic of the finished work. From this distance you can't see any issues.... but believe me, there are plenty!

Latest purchase for the GR86... Whiteline ARB kit. Hopefully will arrive in time for Bedford track day next Monday 13th may.

Hey mate, how are your temps with the oil cooler? I've installed Jackson Racing on setrab core, figured, it would be nice to compare as I was considering Greddy.

The ARB kit from Whiteline - suppose to stiffen up the chassis and balance I presume?

Haven't driven the car yet with the Greddy. Will be at Bedford on Monday doing a track day, if it stays dry should be able to give some feed back compared to without cooler.

As to the ARB kit, at Spa I wasn't getting even heat across the tyre width. The outsides where cooler than the inner half. This means than the car wasn't generating enough force to make use of the -3deg camber.

Hopefully by fitting the ARB, then the tyres will take up more of the forces and get even tyre temps across the tyre.

ARBs will make the ride much more firmer due to the roll bars being stiffer. TBH, if it's a road car I wouldn't bother with ARB. The stock GR86 is good enough handling wise for road. Maybe a set of 30mm GROW lowering springs and that should make a great road car.

Have you looked at roll centre correction? I don't know how much lowering the GR86 affects roll centre, but it could be something to look at of you want to maintain lateral support without adding the stiffness you get from uprated ARBs.

I dont have experience of roll centre correction on the 86 by the way. Maybe someone else can advise.

I doubt I will go that far with the GR86.... If the ARB's don't give me the tyre temps, then I think I may have to bite the bullet and get track focused suspension over a fast road setup (Tein RX1)

Interesting findings, thanks for sharing.
Your theory is, that with ARB there will be less of a play so tyres would stay even across whole circuit? Did you went so far to measure the tyres temps across the sections? How about the rear tyres temp?

If the car rolls less, then more g force can be generated. Which means the tyres will be worked harder.... Up to an extent.... Understeer.

Rear I'm on 1.5deg so way less aggressive than the 3deg up front.

Finally took the car out for a spin. The exhaust is just as predicted. If you didn't know, you think it was a factory sporty exhaust. No drone at any speed and never instrusive. No boominess even on full throttle... Not even loud enough to make heads turn in this age of exhausts with pops and bangs.

I did notice a very very slight burble when downshifting, so subtle that most wouldn't know of it!

I think out of all the exhausts I have heard for the GR86, this is definitely the one if you want OEM+ results.

Just got back from Bedford Autodrome. Glad to report that the Greddy oil cooler did it's job. No leaks anywhere and also temps no higher than 105deg. That's 20 less than Spa and was constantly rising out there. I get that Spa is a much faster circuit with more load on the engine due to terrain but I could do 8 hot laps at Bedford with the temps hitting 102-105 after 2 laps and holding after 8.

Edit: Just to add it was around 5deg warmer ambient temp at Bedford too.

A couple of pics from Bedford. Thought it was going to be a wet day so didn't isntall the new ARB kit. Such a mistake. Really needed to control the roll!

Thanks for feedback on Greddy cooler.

You went with road MP4 tyres due to potential rain? Do you have slicks/semi-slicks for dry conditions?
