GR86 Service intervals

Bloody hell, I thought I was past my days of extortionate servicing costs when I sell my BMW 530d, but it sounds like I'll end up paying even more per mile, both in fuel and servicing costs!

For reference, the below alternating services need to be carried out every 2 years or 15,000 miles according to the BMW service schedule.

Well, let's hope that it is definitely 10,000 miles / annually like this photo....

....and not the 6000 mile of a Yaris. I can handle 2'ish services a year. Don't really want to be messing around with 3-4.
 
Of course Toyota GB, being a beacon of awesome customer service, will be offering the pre-increase prices to all those whose cars have been sat around in a compound since May/June won't they? :ROFLMAO:

That's my picture from the MR2 day, glad it might be of some use now! Thought it looked familiar.

(Not very) interestingly, neither of the two heads reflected in the glass are mine though...

Ha no worries - it threw me cos I thought I recognised the picture and couldn't place where!

Seems like a long time ago MR2 day with the GR86 on display. As Mike Skinner aka The Streets says, "I was younger back than; I was full of hope..."
 
It's definitely annoying, especially when an oil change on these doesn't take long at all. bar maybe plugs and even then there's a tool to make it easier. It wouldn't cost you £70 to do it yourself plus maybe half an hour of your time and then you'd know it was done right. Not done by some YTS who'll lie about brake pad thickness and tyre depth. Then you have to stress at every point to not was the car, put signs inside and they'll still probably try to. Had that with Skoda before and got a free service but I lost a few days correcting the damage.

I'm really impressed, that they find another way to piss of customers almost every day.

Crazy isn't it. The Skoda would be similar too but an indy does mine and even his prices are creeping up. £450 is a joke though. Need to find what exactly is checked on the service intervals with these, although assuming it's the same as the GT86.
 
If I hang on to my order this could push me towards servicing at an independent. I'm unlikely to keep it standard beyond the 3 year point anyway so is there any benefit to servicing with Toyota?
 
For me, the 3yrs are key in it's life and the decider if I want to modify and make it a keeper. If it's a nightmare I'll let it go. But if all is good, once the 3 years are up the warranty will be firmly in the bin and I'll be servicing myself at that point. I'll do little bits before like uprated disks and pads and minor tweaks but have plenty of plans later.
 
The benefit to dealer servicing (and I don't work for one) is that if there is a problem under the dealer (or manufacturer) could use the fact that your car never saw came to them as an reason to negate any gesture of goodwill.

Also (might be just me), I wouldn't buy something like a GR Yaris second hand if it wasn't main dealer serviced.

The warranty is 5 years (or 10 even).
