GR86 Reducing Front End Noise

Wouldn’t have minded the red set to match my intake, but doesn’t look like the fixings are suitable with a fitted Cusco strut brace… 😕
Ooooh bugger. I didn't think about that. I have the Cusco brace at the moment.
However - I have been a bit dubious about how effective that brace is. If these v-braces keep the rigidity of the OEM ones but without reduced noise, I think I'd rather just run those.

I’m definitely interested in the Nameless bars if they help with the noise. We’re planning a long Euro trip next year, any improvement would be welcome.

Lots of good reviews, a point that I picked up was the brace fixing is to a single thread on either end. I have emailed Nameless on this to see what they have to say. Had a weekend away down to Yorkshire and overall came back very impressed, the wife as much as me, but if I can do something about the front end noise that would be most welcome for us both.

I did a local test route this morning with lots of bumpy back roads with quite coarse tarmac. I then took off the standard braces and repeated the route, a definite reduction to the annoying drone. It also softened the jiggly low speed ride too and I couldn’t really notice much difference in the handling, although I wasn’t really pushing it. The only downside was there’s now an annoying buzz coming from behind the dash above 45mph, I guess caused by the reduced rigidity.
I’ll wait to hear some feedback on here but hopefully the Nameless bars will be a good compromise.

Once you have them on, I’ll be interested to know how you find them vs the cusco strut bar - my purchase of the later is on pause…

I'll let you know. Unfortunately, it looks like they are built to order - I ordered over a week ago and they still show as "To be built" on the website.

I put a pair of the Nameless bars in my ‘basket’ at the weekend but I haven’t completed the order yet, I might wait until one of you guys on here get yours and report back! 😅 The reviews are certainly positive but I trust the opinion on here more.
I drove around without the bars fitted for a few days and it was definitely better. But a mate mentioned what would happen if I had a crash and the insurance company noticed the bars were missing, he’s got a point. I’ve now refitted the standard bars but have put rubber washers under them, worth a try.

Has anyone tried these?
Just received a pair of the summit braces, and they don't fit.

I suspect the GR86 was added to the fitment list because the mounting holes are the same as the GT, but the "collars" interfere with the larger mounting plate on the GR and prevent them from sitting flush. Sent an email to fensport to see if they have any ideas, but I suspect I'll have to return them, or grind the collars flat.

That's not good 😠

Fensport are usually brilliant, I'm sure they'll take them back and refund you no questions asked, given that they've listed them as compatible.

Arrived and fitted this morning. It's perhaps a bit early to tell conclusively (only took a 10 minute drive up the dual carriageway and back), but I do sense that they might have reduced cabin noise a little. I never took any proper measurements, and for full disclosure, I don't think I was quite as affected by the noise as some others, so this is all very subjective. I'll run them for a bit longer and see.

However, it does feel like the car 'thumps' over surface imperfections a little less - feels a tad more solid when you're driving over, say, manholes or seams in the asphalt. Going to wait and see later in the week as my commute into the office takes me along a road where I can probably tell this more definitively. Or maybe I'll just deliberately aim at the cat's eyes on the motorway.

On the whole, not sure at the moment. But then, part of that could be because it's a bloody expensive solution - I had to pay import fees, which puts the entire cost at ~£250, which is a lot for what is basically some metal struts.
