What is your real world average MPG?

25.2mpg today on a 1 hour hard run on A, B and country roads, where I had to slow for tractors and other traffic on occasions. 🤣

Typical "out for a blast" scenario I guess. 😁

Engine almost run in now. Surprisingly A road mpg first time is 52mpg average (50mph ish speed limit). Even with the sub optimal 95 octane I had to put in couple of days ago...
Mine is Auto.
That's good going. I did something similar on a slightly downhill run myself the other day on 50 limit roads.

In my case the road is quite nice and flat. Flowing traffic. I can see the adaptive cruise is much frugal than my own right foot ! That explains the great mpg. But I think this car will match the GT86 mpg once the engine is properly seasoned.

On other days, I mix and match, half of the route in sports mode (drink fuel) and rest with cruise activated. I am trying to vary the rpms within the run in period.

Congratulations that’s Toyota Hybrid level mpg 👍😎
Thanks. We did some motorway driving today and hit the 1000mile while at it.
One section had 50mph limit for long while with steady traffic. I reset there out of curiosity and on average I could see 55mpg! The engine warm and motorway flat.
On the way in to our destination we did max motorway speed limit mostly Aron d 70mph and 44mpg was the result. Not bad at all for a 2.4 l new engine. Really pleased
As officially run in I hit the 7K and it is addictive 🤩

From my second fill-up I got 301 miles from 42.26 litres which works out at 32.4 mpg which is exactly what the car's computer says, see pic below.

That's reasonably good but I'm still running in so keeping it below 4000rpm. I expect better once the engine's bedded in but maybe worse because I'll be using all the revs!

With similar gentle treatment my previous F-Type R (550bhp supercharged V8) managed 27mpg although it would dip quite low when the power was used.

Not sure why the computer was telling me there was only 8 miles range left when I could only squeeze in 42 litres. If there really is a 50 litre tank then surely I could have got another 50 miles out of the tank?

I'm the same, even with 4 tanks it's still showing a max range of around 270 miles. I filled up last night and showed 20 miles left with 1 bar on the gauge, but still no low fuel warning. I brimmed it with about 40L too. I wonder if it gets to zero on this range before the reserve kicks in and displays another 50 miles or so? Doesn't sound right though!

For the next fill-up I'm going to risk going past 0 miles and see what happens!

Pretty standard behaviour on modern cars - very pessimistic on the fuel level/range - leaving, typically, about 10 litres 'reserve'.
Basically they don't want you running the tank low to the point of risking fuel starvation and upsetting the ECU.
I had a Lexus IS300h that would happily do 70 miles beyond zero range.
A lot of what cars tell you is what the manufacturer wants you to see, not necessarily the true situation.

Risk aversion, that's what it is.

So who's brave enough to play 'chicken' with the range computer...?

I was thinking of putting a jerry can in the boot and see how far it would go, suspect you’d easily get another 30-40 miles once it shows empty

Has anyone actually seen a fuel warning light come on?
(my 2p to the thread topic - averaging 31mpg indicated over the first 1k miles)

My other car is the same Jaguar you had.... and I've never seen 27 mpg hahahaha EVER. How were you driving this car lol hahaha... I'm lucky to see 13 mpg... on long run it'll hit 23-24 but I would dream of seeing 27. Was this downhill in neutral? hahah

I got my MINI range down to single figures before I brimmed it recently, it also coincidentally has a 50 litre tank and i managed to get 48.69 litres into it :D

It was an anomaly!

A long trip up a very wet A1 at no more than 70 and often a lot less. Much better then the normal 18-21 I managed.

Mine went red today on the motorway. I managed to do 21ish miles after that and 6l was left in the tank. Although my mpg average was a sheepish 52, simply to make it to the petrol station on M4
So after some basic calcs, i think after fuel red I’d then have 8 litres in the tank!

I have not reset my MPG since getting my car and it has now crept up to just over 32mpg after about 1200 miles. I have moved from a diesel A4 convertible that would do nearly 600 miles on a tank and would normally refill it when the range dropped below 100 miles.

I definitely need a different mindset with the GR86 as I am developing range anxiety having to top it up very few days with less than 30 litres! Looks like I should wait and let it go red before filling up unless I am out in the sticks.
