Mine hasn't yellowed in nearly 7 years

I think the yellowing thing was only really applicable in older generation PPF that haven't been used for many years. The newer generation of films from all major manufacturers don't yellow like the old stuff and why you get much longer guarantees.
Thanks.

These recent posts made me worried today, right before my appointment for installing XPEL 😅
But I spoke with the guy today and he assured me the film he's using does have healing properties and does come with 10 year warranty for yellowing and peeling(?). It believe it was the Ultimate Fusion that he said they were using.

Anyway, one week to go before seeing the results :D

Ultimate Fusion is Xpels latest film which includes a permanent hydrophobic layer to make washing a doddle as it's also self healing.
The O/H BMW has it in it and I'm very impressed - so much so that my GR86 is currently getting complete coverage with it.

Picked up my car with Xpel PPF and black PPF on the roof.
IG story from the detailer - deluxecarcare.co.uk - below.
Too clean to drive now :)

Would be keen to see some more pics when you get a chance. Very happy with my black ducktail but can't decide on whether to do the roof as well

To anyone that’s had it done, are your edges tucked in?
They won’t be, I asked about this and PPF is never tucked in compared to wraps due to thickness of the film, it just wouldn’t fold like that. So PPF will always show edge, less if it is really well cut.

That's the opposite to what my installer said.
He'll add extra to the precut profile shapes to be able to wrap edges wherever possible.

My detailer is also tucking the edges around the ends of panels wherever possible for the ppf. Even removing parts like the headlight washer jet to secure it down

Same as the variety cars I saw when I went to the detailers to discuss PPF - tight corners / sharp edges (cast your mind back a few weeks to when you were wrapping different shaped Christmas presents) will involve 'edge finish' where the PPF stops a couple of mm short of the panel's edge, but they will wrap over the edge and 'tuck' whenever possible.

The people doing mine are certainly aiming to tuck anything that they can! They even said that if a template doesn’t sit right, they will edit it so that it works better for the car.
Above is one of their recent GT3s and aside from the bit that isn’t tucked, it’s a very clean install.

All I know is I've had my Xpel on my focus for 6+ years and it still looks like new.

The OH BMW has the new hydrophobic Xpel on it and that's excellent 👍
Is your Focus left out 24/7 or is it garaged at all?

Couple more pics. The black is very glossy and reflective.

There is a very small area in each corner of the roof that couldn't be PPF'ed and shows as white. This doesn't worry me.

I want a black ducktail spoiler now to complete the look :)

Focus tends to be garaged more often than not - but friends car that's exactly the same colour with exactly the same Xpel that's been left out for years looks exactly the same 👍
If it wasn't, Xpel wouldn't guarantee it for so long.
I had it done by AutoFX who also did most of the cars for Paul Bailey including his holy trinity trio in the same film so can't be too bad.

So now there are a few of us with PPF on our cars it would be interesting to see the finish. For those who've had it done, what's your wing mirrors like? Do they have 'relief' lines due to the issue of the curved shape?

Despite a month ago thinking PPF is a ripoff or worse a scam, since visiting the detailer to see it and the 'self healing' ju-ju magic for myself and discuss options I have agonised over 'full car' or just the most exposed areas - front and skirts - and eventually decided to go full car. I collect my GR86 tomorrow, drive it all of 20ish miles to the detailer, and won't see it again until the following weekend as I'll be away with work until after the PPF work finishes.

It's "only" money. :-/
