GR Yaris (Gen 2) Intelligent Speed Assist / ISA

It is uninteresting whether it is a new development or a facelift. Every new registraded vehicle must have it on from this day on (7.7.24). Every car that is newly registered from this date must have it.

I wish it wasn't like that myself.
That would mean that all dealer stock from 2023 that won't be sold until 7.7.24 will go to scrapyard.

Everything is just completely crazy. I'm getting out of this topic again, otherwise all the hatred of the EU and the mob in the government will come up again :).

But this is the EU, as you say.... in the end the country and the manufacturer have the exception to the exception again and Germany is trying to make it even "better" again with extra rules. Time will tell.....
in my books if emissions are affected it is a new model, but not an EU byrocrat or lawyer

Well. There is ISA to found in the manual. Page 195 "RSA".

In the following situations, the RSA
system will output a warning to
notify the driver.
- If the vehicle speed exceeds the
speed warning threshold of the
speed limit sign displayed on the
display, the sign display will be
emphasized and a buzzer will
sound.
Also when the limit speed to be displayed
is changed due to the change of
driving zones, etc., the sign display will
be emphasized and a buzzer will
sound* to alert the driver.*
*: The availability of emphasized display
and buzzer depends on the
country where the vehicle is available.

But sames is in MK1 - it sends audible noise when limit is exceeded (at least in cruise mode on)
RSA = Road sign assistant?

Aren't both part of the package, together with some other (background) features?
Yes. also Blackbox and Pre-installed interface for alcohol immobilizer and and and....

Did some research.

In your explicit case, cars that have already been built and have not yet been registered but are still at the dealer have an exemption.

They must be registered by July 6, 2025 at the latest, after which approval in the EU is no longer possible. And yes, from then on you can throw a new car that has not been registered in the trash.

For those who can speak German. It couldn't be more detailed.

I guess Porsche is about to have an absolute fire sale on their stacks of unsold Taycans then! :ROFLMAO: (unless they already had ISA, I have no idea)

Not this one? Cruise is below? Or other way around, both with speedo...

Yes, exactly this one. To say it all, the dealer was a bit distracted by another customer while he replied to me, and I was in a hurry, so I can be 100% sure that this will be the right one.
Another dealer told me by phone that you have to turn off the street signals recognition function at all, via the settings menu, so there quite some confusion about this, actually.

BTW there was disucssion if there is ISA for MK2. didn't find anything mentioned in manual so it could be ISA free. (hooray!)
It'd be great news indeed! And @Inversed is totally right that according to the EU law the ISA is mandatory only for new models (not facelifts) starting on July '24.
Problem is, Toyota launched a new ADAS system version for its for new cars this year, and one of the first cars adopting it, the facelifted Yaris Cross, has ISA already installed and working (can be switched off, by now), this I know it for sure.
The steering wheel of the new Cross is exactly the same of the GRY Mk2, with the same buttons, including the one I mentioned before that had just a radar symbol on it on the Mk1.
So I guess that the ADAS system mounted on the GRY Mk2 is the last generation one, like in the Cross, so it very likely includes ISA.
But Toyota by now is actually free to decide whether to activate it or not on facelifted models that are not new from scratch, according to the EU law, and then it could be true that there is no (activated) ISA on GRY Mk2, by now.
It's be really great news to me as well!
At least if they don't use the option to activate it later...

As far as I know, ISA it's mandatory only for the new homologated cars, not just registered or even slightly modified. This should be because the EU couldn't force cars manufacturers to add a new feature like this to cars that had been projected before the law has been enforced.

Maybe i am not inteligent enough, but in the German Video from Greenthumb he said that the ISA just have to show you when you are too fast, not that the car should break by himself or so.
And my MK 1 has that already if you are 3Km/h to fast there comes a Red light tha says you are to fast.
And sorry about my English, I hope you understand what i want to say

No, but I don't want to explain it again now. Let us surprise. Sorry, but the topic irritates me... -----> No fan of EU đŸ™ˆ.

I hope for everyone who gets their new car from July 7, 2024 that I am wrong.

No, it was compulsory already 2022 for new homologated models, now from July 2024 is it compulsory for all new cars produced irrespective how old the model is.

Notable cars that can no longer be sold in the EU and countries following the EU rules are the Porsche Macan and GR86, and probably many many more that will slowly slide away without much fuss...
