GR Yaris (Gen 2) Intelligent Speed Assist / ISA

A place to discuss ISA without hijacking other threads - some posts may have been migrated from other threads.
For it to be enforceable the software requires significant improvement. For example, my GRY accurately reads the numbers on the roadside speed limit signs and displays them on my screen. In theory the number displayed background changes from white to red when the speed is exceeded. Problem is, whilst my car accurately reads and displays the signs it usually but not always thinks in kph rather than mph, which means driving in GB it is almost always in the red. I can live with this, as there is no audio warning but if there was or it transmitted my perceived transgression to a third party it would not be acceptable.

In Harry's video (of Lotus) its stated ISA is mandatory + needs to be turned off in start of every drive.

People always make little dongle work arounds they can plug into the canbus if you don't want to push the button every time! ;)

:giggle: :coffee:

Hmm … that seems like a right faff

The same was in the BMW. Nothing with just pressing a button. You had to fight your way through the multimedia display. As soon as you put the car in park for a moment, everything was back on.

I tried to find in GR MK2 dash if there was this driver monitoring sensor somewhere but couldn't find it. but find it really unlikely that it would NOT be there as Toyota likely uses same safety stuff for all their cars?

On top of ISA there is also a mandatory black box that records crash data, 5s before and 0,3s after, unclear if any visuals are stored. If there is any question about fault after an accident, this will be part of evidence.

Anyhow, might be good to have a dashcam you have control about that shows more of what happened and not just recorded speed...

how about button for ISA?
Trying and reading symbols, I guessed the button to turn off ISA should be on the steering wheel, on the upper right side.
It should be the button at the left side of the lane assist on/off button.
It's the same button I saw on the new Yaris Cross in a showroom a few days ago, and the dealer confirmed to me that is the one turning on/off ISA.

If that were the case, he wouldn't come to Europe. So don't assume that for sure :).
There are many rules and exceptions to these EU rules. I don't think it needs to have ISA if car is considered a facelift.

It's quite logical but there is a confirmation of wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay.

It is uninteresting whether it is a new development or a facelift. Every new registraded vehicle must have it on from this day on (7.7.24). Every car that is newly registered from this date must have it.

I wish it wasn't like that myself.

But this is the EU, as you say.... in the end the country and the manufacturer have the exception to the exception again and Germany is trying to make it even "better" again with extra rules. Time will tell.....
