GR86 Insurance

Welp, a bitter sweet result for me this year.

The sweet bit is I managed to get insurance for £456, which was only £10 more than last year, with an exhaust added too :D

The bitter bit is my lovely AP BBK is going into storage for a year, couldn't get anyone to insure brake mods for less than £750, I'm not paying that. Maybe next year. :(

After an initial promising start with Howdens for me, they’ve been a bit…mixed. Not especially competitive with cars I’ve come to add on to the multi vehicle policy I took out with them, unfortunately, and the policy doesn’t feel as flexible as I’d perhaps hoped when taking it out.

Happy to keep my two modern classics with them come renewal if they’re competitive - but it’ll be interesting to see what comes about with the GR86 in September.

Feeling fortunateish - I'm due for renewal next month - just been looking at a few quotes.

Looking at about £1100 total for 2 cars (GR86+Skoda Superb 270 Sportline Estate) and the house (Buildings and Contents)

All of mine is currently on one policy with Admiral who haven't yet quoted for renewal. Might email them ahead of time telling them to beat it or not bother. In fairness the only car they aren't competitive on on the comparison sites is the Skoda.

Last year they knocked the price down quite significantly when I argued to haggle. Not sure I can be bothered to expend the energy this year.

Insurance runs September to September and, uhh, I've already sailed well past the original quote by end of March.

Added another 4000 miles on with Admiral for £51.86, of which £13 is their admin fee. Not bad for peace of mind. Where have the miles gone...

have you spoken to us yet?

we do multi car policies as well so we could potentially give you a really good quote :)

drop me a message if you have any questions!

Cheers

Ben

Tried to add another potential acquisition to my Howdens multi car policy yesterday to be met with a mad premium quotation (double what I’d paid for the other two cars on the policy, for a car worth 5% of one of them 🤣).

The lady I spoke to was very friendly, helpful and apologetic it wasn’t more competitive, but it’s left me feeling rather disappointed again that the policy isn’t really living up to what I’d hoped it would be.

Let me have a look into it for you Iain and ill give you a call or drop you a message about it!

Well colour me shocked - if I hadn't been so fed up of Admiral f**king around with prices I probably wouldnt have looked that hard but I gave Ben at Howdens a call today.

Both the GR86 and the family car insured for a grand on the nose. They couldnt be quite as competitive with the home and contents insurance, but no issue that can be sourced elsewhere.

Well worth a call - even after initial haggling with Admiral this morning they've saved me 170 quid.

Recommended👌👌

Lovely speaking to you and glad we got something sorted for you!

Cheers:)

Another thumbs up for Howden. My renewal quote came through at £1275 (previous year was £850 on the GR86 and the year before my GT86 was £320). Howdens have me insured for £598 so a large improvement!

Edit: this includes the add ons I have, duck tail and aero stabiliser.
What milage was that for please?

My renewal from Admiral came today and as expected, like many of my mates with them it's gone up. I insure two cars and the house and it's over a grand. The GR86 they want £470 and that's with over 16yrs NCB and the Swift has gone from £110/yr to £235! It's only insured for 2k a year and now has a year of NCB, as if it matters. The house insurance is the stinger at over £360. It's like they don't want the business.
