GR86 Insurance

Admiral renewal for me was £303, after £304 last year. I've just had a small claim from 5 years ago roll off the books now though, so I'm old, and clean!

£229 with Saga (also insured a 10 yr old Rio for £105) - I just have to tolerate all the advertising for cruises and incontinence pants. God, I bet those ships smell!

I was pleased with my renewal this year. 36yr old 15 years NCB, cheapest quote I got was £262 with the RAC 🤘 although with mods I settled with AVIVA at £348 as they will cover brake upgrades for like a fiver more if I decide to do it. I'll take that.

Mine was almost 3 times this amount. 😅

Side note insurance, its a whole new story for another thread, but Aviva Zero is the most shambolic collection of lowlifes that I have ever had the misfortuune of dealing with....
My partner was with them for her most recent period of insurance and shared the same observation. Not worth the cheaper premium IMHO.

Yes, My partner was rear ended, £3kish volvo V40 that she liked and although it was old had had full new brakes, tyres, both batteries, rebuilt gearbox etc... we were baffled why it was written off after a light rear end impact (we've since been quoted £650 to fix).

We got the car back and found that they had managed to rip the front bumper off some how, (we were quoted £2,600 to fix that) and it looks like they have moved it with a fork lift too as there is side skirt and damage underneath. They blame the garage Solus and their contractors and say its not their fault (ignoring the fact that they own Solus, and out contract is wit them, and they are responsible for their subcontractors)

She was hit on January the 2nd, still in the hire car.

This is why everyones premiums are so high - I genuinely wish deeply unpleasant things to them all.

I'm still with Admiral for both cars and the house and when I have used them in the past they've been good. They were quick with the chip repair on the 86 last year. Every year it's phone and haggle, although this year it was actually less then the previous year but I still did it.
