GR Yaris HJS Downpipe with ECE-approval

Yeah that sort of thing doesn't sit well with me, I'm a straight up & down sort of Guy
Just be straight, your firm, your time, you're a professional working with similar stuff. You can even detail the invoice.

I don't have a invoice from the Dealership, I don't work for them, I have an unrelated business

They owe me a few favors, they damaged my GRY exhaust & the GR86 is the 15th vehicle I've brought from them

I would just invoice them for my time, there are ways at least here perfectly legal dunno about NZ, similar rate as a shop, and be straight about what it is. Up to them if they accept it, but they should if it's reasonable.

There is 15% off in this shop at the moment. And another 2% off if you pay before. So i paid 1290€ (1124pounds).

That's a nice price indeed!
Makes me cry when I think of how much I payed for mine

Hi all,

Old thread, but figured I'd post just to clarify for anyone else searching for more information on the Armytrix downpipe as I couldn't find anything else on the internet.

I had a talk with an Armytrix distributor and someone else who had fitted the downpipe over here in Australia - both mentioned that the Armytrix downpipe fitted to the OEM exhaust without issue (we don't have an OPF here, it's a second cat). I don't believe there was any cannibalization of the OEM downpipe needed too.

For anyone that's fitted the HJS downpipe recently, does it still have the fitment issues?

Regardless, the Armytrix downpipe is available here locally and the HJS is not, so I'll be going with the Armytrix. I'll post the results once I've installed it.

Cheers.

Some findings:
- car feels lighter on its feet, easier to get going. More or less throughout revrange.
- Spool/lag test. When letting revs drop on closed throttle to 2k rpm in 6th, then floor it. OE it takes 3-4s to reach full boost, with HJS about 1,5-2s. Clear improvement.

- Install was 3h for workshop with good mechanic that never saw a GRY up close. Toyota workshops that insisted on the official work method of changing OE cat wanted to charge 2-3x more. FYI

Do you mind naming the shop that did this?
I might go down the HJS route in the future, and if it's not too far away, getting it done in Sweden (potential savings), and by someone who has done it before, could potentially be a good idea for me...

The ceramic coated 200 cpsi Armytrix downpipe arrived last week - I'll be installing it and tuned via an ECUtek tuner early next month (now that the ECUtek reflash is available) and post the before and after dyno results here

As for the dimensions - the inlet/outlet are the same diameter as the HJS downpipe.

Question for those more experienced - what's that small tube inside the bottom of the downpipe (leading to the 2nd cat)? Is it normal? I'm just worried it may impede air flow.

Hi all,

Got the Armytrix downpipe installed - tuners mentioned that exit did look odd, however it didn't impact performance as far as they could tell.

Dyno results are attached. Figures are at the hub

Mods:
Q300 mid pipe and catback
Armytrix downpipe
Enclosed Airtec intake
Plazmaman intercooler with stock piping

quite impressive gains as HJS + wagner IC + turbo inlet gave only 20hp on stock boost.

The before and after might be misleading from my part.

To clarify - the before is how the result of the car as I gave it to the tuners, so no tune, but with all above mods except the downpipe.
The after is with the downpipe +all previous mods and tune.

The downpipe alone gave around 8 to 10 kW from what they told me. Regardless, I'm happy with the end result.

Necroing this thread. Can anyone confirm if the fitment issues mentioned earlier in this thread with the HJS sports cat have been fixed?

Is there another ECE/Euro6 approved downpipe that is recommended above the HJS at this point?

I saw some issues about the turbo oil pipe cracking with certain downpipes, anyone know what to look out for in regards to this? Is the HJS one likely to cause this issue?

Guess the culprit is dp missing flex and exhaust moving too much. So it can be whole system issue but if dp has no flex joint it will make issue worse?

HJS is one of the few good ones as it retains the bracket that fixates the catalyser and also retains the smaller downpipe. Other systems dump all this and replace is with a stiffer larger pipe while dumping the bracket, meaning that the whole length stiffer DP now has leverage on the now unsupported turbo.

I've had HJS downpipe fitted since Feb 2022. There was a minor issue at first but that was quicky sorted and no problems at all in over 2 years since.

Wanted to order one today, but they are out of stock everywhere... Whifbitz told me they had been on order for a long time with no ETA...
