GR Yaris Hello there

Got today the HRNSHN Brake Cooling kit for GR Yaris.
Overall happy to get the great brake cooling ducts from the front to finally working - as they were left halfway from the factory.
Now with ti backing plates stock brakes should tolerate proper heat (not that I track the car that much!) :D

Did also a Timelapse on the install. Few comments on the kit and install

The kit:
- Kit as a part build is nice engineering, laser cut parts and brake air channel to fender is 3d printed. Channel it self is not that large, hose diameter is 2'' (51mm) but maybe it is sufficient.
- Kit has few drawbacks - no biggie but the zip ties provided were too short so replaced them with bigger ones. also the brake cooling hoses (wired ones) were little too tightly fitted - 1-2cm longer would not have been bad in terms of easier install. In addition, the laser cut parts that mount on the hub side should maybe have something to mechanically fasten the wired hose in its place - now the surface is smooth and even though the hose is thighly fitted it can still be pulled off quite easily as there is no surface against it would hinge itself when tighten.. Was thinking of drilling additional holes and add rivets but thought it to be too much of an hassle and left it as it is. Maybe next time if it becomes loose.

From the assembly:
- I had real struggle with first side install to get the wired cooling hose in its place as installed first the 3d part and then the disc end piece. Install will be MUCH easier if you first assembly the whole package with wire hose and then just bolt it in - did this to the other side and it was maybe 4x faster than the first.
- the 3d printed pipe will need to be mounted to the inner fender wall with a "rivet' - that needs an additional hole to be created. not that biggie as fender wall is really shallow but that is not there.

Tools you need are
- 9mm (?) socket for the air channel screws
- 17mm socket for the brake caliber bolts in which the hub part mounts
- screwdriver / drill to pinch a hole into fender for additional mount
- patience in getting the wired hose tightly mounted from its both ends

Could be placebo but feel like brakes work better now with cooling ducts in their place - maybe they help keeping the pad surface cleaner with that extra air..

Swapped on the summers as there has not been any snowfall today. Definitely prefer the red wheels to this black..
Testing Front 2.2bar / Rear 2.4bar tire pressures, also swapped front wheels to back and vice versa to even out the wear.

Went for a short test drive and what a silly car that is with that better alignment and summers - front end is much better.

Do you have an alignment sheet by any chance? I'll go for an alignment soon and I'm looking for a bit of inspiration concerning the settings :)

Lovely stuff. Yes, in my experience Toyotas are generally good to work on as the fasteners tend to be properly specified for the task.

For example, changing the clutch on an ST205 GT-Four compared to a Mitsubishi Evo is like night and day*, things are the right size and don’t round-off or are found to be corroded in position.

*f@*#king superstrut suspension notwithstanding 😁

In good care.. SK Autosound installing the lazer wiring and xbb dongle. great service!

Did a short drip today with 2x10km fun road - car is really fun to blast tighter tarmac roads on 4th gear.

Friendly GR driver removed the ECE sound and now actually prefer the original soundtrack even though it is more quiet - it is somehow more elegant with original sound.
tested the lazer light also first time in the dark.

Spent one week without driving the GR and today did a short cruise and wow its just wonderful feeling with its torque..!

Planning to copy DeanoC's setup with additional oil cooling - ordered a 130x130mm scoop and 63mm air hose and will replace the blanking plate from the left of IC - should bring oil temps down abit in track use.

Did not plan to track the car that much but then after visiting the racetrack remembered how much fun it is so now prepping car bit towards track use.
ordered
- boes seat console for better lateral support and more headroom for the helmet.
- HRNS Racing front and rear diff cooling ducting - maybe not that necessary in Scandiavia but I like the feeling that car can take as much beating as needed when going fast.

Cheers @Rallyboy should take more pics !
Had an idea for a short video but lets see if I have time to make it..

Winter gives nice light occasionally even when its dark times..
