The carlinkit 2 air has been working well for me. It hasn’t stopped the usual drop offs that happen as I’m sure that’s the software on the head unit itself.
It connects upon startup, nice to not need to connect the phone any longer (bar along journeys where i need the phone charged).

Don't use parking mode on the blackvue they drain batteries like crazy. Lol
If you use the cloud feature and app make sure you turn off the public share location or everyone with the app will be able to see where your car is!
Battery: Yeah, I’ve had the cameras for almost 2 years, they were removed from my last vehicle and will be refitted into the GR, so I had it set for just 2 hours recording when parked, which is more than enough for man shopping (I can do Asda weekly shop in 30 minutes). The car will live on an Optimiser so battery drain is easily restored.
Privacy: I discovered that Cloud issue when I saw some of my recent ‘events’ had been uploaded and my trips were available for all to see… That was quickly sorted I can tell ya!!
Could you post a link to the one you ordered please? There seem to be loads of options and I'd like to avoid getting a fake one.
