They are, but I still think I have been overestimating them. I've had a few moments in mine - the obvious one where I took an impromptu field trip off the side of the A11 last year. Since then I've had the alignment sorted so the car tracks and drive beautifully, but I still think the tyres are lacking a little of the grip afforded by true ultra high performance tyres. Had a few times where they don't feel like they deal with standing water with the same confidence that I had in my GT86. When it comes time to upgrade, I think I'll switch up to either the PS4S now that we have access to those (or whatever the top Michelin tyre is now) or the Goodyear F1 Asymmetric - had those (F1AS5) on the GT and always felt supremely confident in them.

My two penneth - you can really 'feel' what the GR86 is doing, which helps judge how to drive it across different conditions.

Very plausible. Could be the back end scraped along the trackside barrier, rotated and flipped.
When I used to track my Impreza, my insurance included track daysThink I may take out track day insurance if I ever venture onto the track

100% on that, additionally on the slightly more self interest side of things it won’t be doing any of us any favours if we have a glut of total loss against the car. Insurance quotes are getting out of hand as it is even before a slew get written off let alone after!

Classic line are good for insurance with track cover in my experience.
Just looked and don't seem to have my old certificates (it's several years ago). I think one was Premier.

Earlier post not intended to offend - your post a better articulation of my concern/intent.
Deeply sympathetic to anyone who’s experienced the trauma of a big off but there’s logic behind that insurance group rating.

i have found the same. The PS4s seem sensitive to cold, standing water and mud on the road. I will also be looking for something different once they have less tread left on them.
I'd have thought it's quite difficult to judge a tyre on mud, as it's not easy to compare similar conditions.

I can only compare PS4s on both my RWD drive cars on the same stretch of roads and I've found the GR86 is more prone to loose grip earlier.
Ah, having two cars helps. What's the other car and what tyres does it have?

It sounds like if you want to drive the car in the winter, it's best to get winter tyres, unless you want to end up in the hedge.
