GR86 GR86- Cars for sale - General Discussion

Another contributing factor possibly the alignment which people are reporting can be wildly all over the place from car to car even from new.

I think that's enough on tyres now fellas, we've 'drifted off' topic with this one.

Back to GR86 sales.

Another damaged one on ebay for £9,495.

Each car victim to a total loss is bad news all round, poor sod who owned it be it caused by misadventure or otherwise. Then the rest of us with the associated uplift in premiums as it becomes noted on insurance databases that these things become known as a liability.

If my memory is right people have been mentioning ~ £3k per headlight and doubtless a costly front bumper and alloy bonnet it’s going to be £10k+ of parts in that before you lift a spanner or spray gun.

A cheap track toy that is not unless you somehow manage to cobble together some very cheap used, preferably same colour parts from a car that left the road arse first.

Yes - really bad news for premiums. Looks like new wings, radiator & maybe aircon condenser too at least. Perhaps bent a bit as well. Hope driver OK - cabin looks intact.

Websites from IAAI [69] and Copart [61] in the states… maybe a younger owner demographic [USA] but good grief!!

https://www.iaai.com/Search?url=v1J6jAofdD+56I5GRIZ+TePlDto2QWGAaUQ8dCOeiO4= 69 listed

https://www.copart.com/vehicle-search-model/toyota/gr-86 61 listed

https://sca.auction/en/search/type-cars/make-toyota/model-gr86 76 listed [but some duplications with IAAI & Copart]
That is a lot of bent 86s, > 0.5% of GR86 are currently for sale in a salvage yard, which is only the tip of the iceberg when compared to all the ones that passed through already and those that were repairable.
I'm assuming 12k cars per year for the last 2 years in the US which I read somewhere.

On Sunday someone in a suv almost drove into me. Bad drivers all around, in this case the aforementioned suv was on a lane that is meant only to go straight on and instead turned into my lane. Had to get on the horn and take avoidance action. Always expect the worse from other drivers is my mantra.

Yeah, I had someone pull out on me today and it's happened quite a few times in the GR, way more than in any other car.

No idea why, how can such an awesome looking car be invisible?!

Similar experiences too, it's baffling. Nearly had an Audi (not an SUV either) T-bone me tonight around 5.15 so not quite fully dark, had my dipped beams on too. I have started driving with them on all the time now since a taxi pulled out of a side road right into my path in broad daylight in the middle of the day last summer/autumn, lucky I was only doing around 30 but still had to pull an emergency stop to prevent serious injury to his passenger, the c--t just put his arm out of the window and gave a cheery wave.
