GR86 GR86- Cars for sale - General Discussion

As a potential flippee here are my thoughts:

- This is such a good car I'd be happy to keep it if the selling price isn't tempting
- If I couldn't keep it and the prices are RRP, I have one friend that has expressed interest and one other who may very well want it, so I'd rather they had it for close to RRP than a random
- if I didn't have friends interested, it wouldn't be worth taking delivery and flipping if it's near RRP so I'd just cancel and others would be subject to the waiting list

With the above said, I absolutely understand why people wouldn't want to pay a flipper a premium. I wouldn't do it either.

Same view.

I would never buy a car from a flipper as I wouldn't want to encourage this practice.

I also feel for the passionate and genuine individuals who missed out on a car on 20th April and are presently languishing on a waiting list with a deminishing chance of receiving a cancellation.

Instead they are now faced with having to pay a sizeable premium (6K-8K) to a flipper if they want a GR86 now.

I just hope they have the same resolve as me.

I have a feeling that GR Yaris prices did well because it was something new, a rally 4wd special with lots of bhp. The GT86 didn't sell well, despite getting rave reviews and, in my opinion, being a great car.

Suspect the GR86 will not have great used values in the same way, and that suits me fine :)
 
Also I reckon anyone that has bought a used car in the last couple of years will have paid the seller at least £5k more than they’d wanted to🤷‍♂️
 
Blue & red down to £35,995 now on autotrader.

I thought dealers were offering people that?

If any white or grey ones going for 33 my daughter will have it.
 
I wasn’t sure if I should show my hand, but as others are starting to, this is what I’m willing to offer someone today:

Sapphire Blue (the dark blue one) doesn’t do it for me I’m afraid. I would pay an extra for the OEM rear spoiler.

Calling custard on this, it’s an odd negotiating strategy offering a 3k premium on a black car and half that on a red or blue one.

Just call the guy up who has advertised a black one in the classifieds and buy it if serious.
 
I guess we’ll see guys 🙂. I’ve made the offers above to there people directly over the last 48hrs, and obviously no one has taken me up on it yet. Everyone is waiting to see what happens.

It’s really not important to me what the paint premiums were from Toyota; this car will be my daily, and those are my preferences. It’s not a negotiation strategy; those are my price points.

At the rate prices are dropping on Auto Trader, someone might sell me one next week? 🤣

I’m ok with the fact I may not get one if there are enough buyers willing to pay more. But if you’re not getting better offers elsewhere, or don’t want the hassle, feel free to get in touch; beats giving it back to Toyota for list price 👍.

Or cancel your pre-orders any maybe they’ll reach me on the waiting list.
 
I would be interested in knowing which dealerships have offered owners £36K.

I have today spoken to the owner of a significant car dealership and his viewpoint on a value for a delivery mileage GR86 is somewhat different.

Yeah, I have a slight preference for white over black, but the black looks good too. I have a black GT86. They look great when clean, but keeping black swirl free is a challenge! I’ve DA polished mine twice in my 6 years of ownership.
 
The add on the Forum Marketplace is now saying “Sold” , seller claiming dealer was offering £36k 🤔

Wrong time to flip unless its for the now factor. If they all held until Spring they'd have a better chance. But with bills going up (my energy DD doubled again last night) we could get to then and the market has fallen out. But what tends to happen is people wanting cars lower their budget and expectations.
 
I think every market will suffer next year, I’ve been watching luxury watch prices dropping quite rapidly the last few weeks and before things took a turn I was looking for a bigger house in a desirable area, the local property market has pretty much come to a halt there now, hopefully it goes back to being a buyers market but with that there will be pros and cons as it’ll be tough for some.
 
At least @jw191 has been open with his valuation so gets a 🏆 for openness. I think all the hype of “Sold out in 90 minutes“ and every Instat🤬🤬t with a “Must Have GR Yaris“ and Listers Lincoln comedy club asking £60k may have coloured expectations of the GR86 Sellers. It’s early days and the temperature is freezing and the economy is taking a battering (it happens every 10/15 years). No one needs to get their fingers 🔥if you don’t want the car simply cancel. At the moment I’m guessing buyers are prepared to pay a few £K over RRP , and with cars coming through at a steady rate over 2023 there will be delivery mileage cars available over the next 12 months.
