GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

I have a listing that I’ve saved on auto trader some time ago that’s a very good example. Low mileage PPF’d etc that had been gradually reduced since being listed. It was £31,995 before the announcement now £33,995. First listed 40 weeks ago. Only 5k miles. 🤷🏼‍♂️

The various we buy your car sites were suggesting £23-26k for my 2020 black car with 24k miles

Will give it a few weeks and see where it moves to.

My previous car was a Mk3 Focus RS Track Edition.
Fantastic car, I'd buy it again many times, but my GRY Mk1 is many steps ahead when it comes to pure pleasure of driving.
When I drive the GRY I can immediately sense that it's a unique car, a competition car tamed to get access to public roads, reminding me the behaviour of the Group-N Rally cars I had the pleasure to test in the past.
You drive it with every tool available: the throttle, the brakes, the weight transfer, with a rate of response that gives you the "fitting as a glove" feeling.
The Focus was an excellent road car that was pumped up in a fantastic way, but it's not the same thing. You feel it that you can drive it in a few fantastic ways, but the toolbox is limited by its origins as a standard car.
Very different cars then, and I dare to say that I put the GRY in a much higher league than the Focus RS.
To say it all, I put the GRY in a higher league than the Nissan GT-R R35 I had 10 years ago, but maybe in this case it's just my personal taste for cars.
Hmm, as much as i enjoy the GR, its a great car...but the Gt-R is a special car.

Miss mine terribly and have been trying to get back into one for ages, they're just silly money though

GT-Rs are great, the way I would want to drive it would however land me in jail pretty quickly. All the while in the Yaris I'm having a ball and wondering how it is possible to get away with that; it simply goes under the radar for most... That makes it awesome...

I think they are both special and unique in their different ways. And to my taste, I slightly prefer the GRY's way.
Because it's light, tiny, and sort of "analog"old-fashioned car.
GT-R is maybe the best piece of engineering ever built in the shape of a car, but it is heavy, large, sort of "teleguided" for most of the time, and as @Onehp said, it comes to life once you trespass limits that are beyond physics and, sometimes, even human senses.
I miss it for sure, as one of the best cars I ever had, but I'm also sure I will miss the GRY a bit more (both the current Mk1 and the incoming Mk2), if one sad day I'd have to part ways with it.
Just my personal taste, and I totally respect and understand your different point of view.

I've driven the R32 and, honestly, I was left feeling a bit let down. It didn't have the sharp steering of the GRY, and it felt slower, too. Even though the R32 is often praised for its raw driving experience, it didn't live up to my expectations. Considering the R32 is often viewed as the most raw driving experience among them, with the R33 and R34, I'd expect my disappointment to grow. Both of these models are heavier, with the R34 tipping the scales at nearly 1600 kg and the R33 not far behind. To me, that's a big drawback. I genuinely believe these cars are way too overhyped and not worth their price tag. If I had to choose, I'd go for an e46 M3 CSL (with a manual conversion) over any GTR, hands down.

And think back to the early days when folk weren’t sure how values would hold up.

Saying that one would be worth even £23k after 3½ years would have been looked on as optimistic.

Toyota has rolled out a host of TRD accessories for the 2024 GR Yaris in Japan

I was just reading through this thread this morning which obviously has centred around the significant uplift in cost of the mk 2 since the announcement, and remembered back to 2020 when Pistonheads was apoplectic about a ‘£30,000 Yaris!?!?!!!111111’

It just makes me feel a little bit smug now that I saw the original for the absolute bargain it was. I put a £250 deposit down at my local dealership after a brief test drive, and 6 months later was paying £500ish a month at 0% interest after putting down no deposit! I honestly felt like I’d stolen it.

I quite fancy the new slightly longer steering column. Hope that's something you can retrofit.

I've actually thought about that too. I'd love it on mine and I don't want a steering wheel spacer.

I'm surprised to read your posts and would like to know more.

I expect retrofitting, if at all possible, to be an extremely expensive and laborious exercise, especially compared to paying a couple of hundred pounds/euros for a spacer and having it fitted in 30 minutes.

Why wouldn't you want a steering wheel spacer instead?

I don't 100% trust the integrity of a steering wheel spacer plus I need it to look OEM.
A steering wheel spacer is not something any TÜV engineer would ever be willing to homologate.
If it looks entirely OEM it wouldn't even raise any eyebrows plus there is actually potential for an engineer to be willing to homologate the mod.
In a best case scenario you'd also retrofit a new Airbag + the control module so that the Airbags work in the way they are intended to - could be difficult though.

Please discuss here:

Rally Champ specials are nice but wondered will the calibers in Ogier edition turn purple if getting proper heat in.
Guess we will never know.. BTW the skirts looks more aggressive at least in this colour compared to mk1.
That staggeringly huge front mouth will surely return poor Cd values so no wonder emissions go through the roof. Slick Mk1 might have better top speed than this dragy vehicle?

note that to this front fender design its more difficult to put canards on.
