GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

Ditto. I'm 100% not thinking about how the radiators and ducting for the auto car could be bought, fitted and used for engine oil cooling on the manual cars.
Because someone else will do it before you and, nice community we have and all, will share it with everyone else how to do it - my thought.

I get your thoughts... we can all do the "man-maths" in world if keen on getting the Mk2.
And yes, the aesthetics are very subjective and we tend to love whatever our favorite brands and rally-heros throw at us... but also in that front (literally!) the WRC machines are much more Mk1's than Mk2's at least for now...
...and while the front of Mk1 has been praised for it's aggressive (yet elegant) design even by non-rally junkies, the Mk2 just reminds a "jawless zombie" 😆
The funny thing is that you took the exact words from my mouth.
When I look at the front bumper, and worst of all on a white Mk2, my first impression is that of a jawless zombie, one of the most horrific thing you can imagine about
But at the same time I think that I will inevitably end up looking at the Mk2 like I'm doing now with the Mk1, with that "awww" eyes that make my wife staring at me, thinking I'm still a hopeless 6yr old kid inside... (and she is passionate about this kind of cars like I do, her fav one being the Impreza Solberg we had 20 yrs ago)

If this Mk2 can only be bought online which I have never done how do you go about trading in your Mk1 to help you buy it at your local toyota dealer.

If you get an allocation, you’ll pick a dealer and the transaction will happen

To be fair, I find the 30/70 split worthless. I guess if you just want the car to slide, but it makes you considerably slower through a corner. Even the 60/40 works better when everything is set up to rotate the car. In "Track," the car rotates, and will slip the rear when coming off of a corner, but still pulling hard vs. just "drifting."

The MK2 is much more competition-focused, where they've added things that make it go quicker, and taken away some fluff.
Agreed, that the 30/70 split is a bit worthless, track mode is fantastic and I could live with it and normal mode. In fact, it’s easier to rotate the car in track than in sport mode.

The mk2 is objectively a better and quicker car, no doubt. Visually, is another matter, at least at the front, the mk2 is clearly an afterthought, but form follows function, in this case.

Interesting how we all use our cars. I always use sport as I can’t stand having the orange warning for stop start off. If I want to have a proper play though I do go track and expert agree it’s easier to rotate.

I drive expert mode in track 98% of the time. The other 2% are snow donuts in sport.

I might have to revise my numbers for accuracy, but let's say the percentage is a distribution of time spent having fun, and not distance!
To be fair you did write '% of the time" so I'm just pulling your leg ;) for me 100% track, motorway all systems on, unknown b roads in expert and, as often as possible with time and place, hooning - all off obviously

Track 100%. But unfortunately, I do not feel confortable enough to disactivate everything, I only do it when I want to have fun in the snow or if I approach a U turn I can drift in. I think I'll need some more experince on track to be confident with the car.
Let's hope the MK2 will allow you to lock the torque repartition instead of managing it electronically in every mode (this point is not clear for me).

It seems two of the modes are locked, Normal is still 60:40, the new Gravel mode is 53:47, where the new Track mode is automatically variable between 60:40 and 30:70.

Being an mk1 owner for less than a year and now seeing a healthy dose of pictures, videos and first impressions of the mk2...

The only thing I'd realistically lust after are the new taillights. All else is faff and/or wouldn't likely make the driving impression miles better than that of the mk1 (inter alia, currently have no problem with the mk1 seating position and/or display and mirror placement).

Do wish they'd dropped in some proper reclinable sport seats a la Recaro Sportster to make the mk2 even more desirable (incl. to mk1 owners). But as is, quite happy with mine and the OG mk1 "angry bee" look :)

At the same time, also understand the manufacturers line of making small improvements over the mk1 and generally bringing out a "new version" to keep the interest and hype alive. Even more so as other manufacturers are already pulling out of the hot hatch game.

Would be mildly interested in trying out the mk2 auto/DAT, though. Just for sh1ts n giggles.

Yeah, I'd like to try out the auto, if the demonstrator has it. As I said to the salesman, I'd be surprised if they don't get the 8AT, they have plenty of MK1's about to use for demo of how a 6MT is going to roughly function.

Timing is the issue here.

If the order book opens this month but demonstrators don't come until June... ?

I mean, to be fair the dealer seemed about as clueless as me so maybe he was just guessing
