Having just watched this, I must sadly admit that the front end design hasn't grown on me; in fact, it seems to have become less appealing. It appears overdone and cluttered, all justified by the "because racecar" ethos. The distinctive look that defined the GR Yaris has been lost. While I acknowledge the car's objective improvements, I remain convinced that the front facade of the MK1 is vastly superior in aesthetics. Even if I decide to swap for the new model (unlikely at this point), my preference for the MK1's design will stand firm, emphasizing its timeless appeal over the newer version's complexity.
 
I've already commented on the front several times :). But after one of these videos I became aware of the ugly diffuser. Here you can see the complete exhaust muffler. In the past, people always wanted to retrofit the style from the facelift. This time I would go the other way around🤣.

The problem with the front end is, it looks like "stacked" Like a Lego, several levels on top of each other.

I love the exposed transmission with Ferrari 288 GTO or with rally weapons such as Lancia Rally 037. But not sure of this exposed exhaust system. different looks obviously.

that's more or less the same what my car measured with Wagner IC and HJS Cat with stock ecu map. But likely top end will be improved with new model.
 
I personally wouldn't ever want a GR Yaris with an auto box.

But after seeing this massive blanked off vent on the new manual, my preference is becoming less clear cut!
Imagine living with that hideous front end and knowing it isn't even fully functional! o_O

Also, the new grey colour looks considerably lighter than the original press shots. A darker grey would have looked much nicer IMO.

that looks like a not fistable bumper.
 
To be honest I expect this is just a shit photo.

Even the bumper looks borderline grey in this picture

Looks like it's reflecting a lot of snow

...front-end is hideous (specially when compared with the mk1 excellent design), on the other hand the rear section it's IMO better, I kinda like the more modern tail lamps and the functional diffuser, but the problem comes when seeing thru that diffuser net for a partially burnt exhaust that ages like a 'plague.
 
I must admit I prefer the Mk1 front bumper! :unsure: :cool:
The Mk2's front bumper doesn't look great from the side in that picture of the Red one above... 😬 😵‍💫
 
I have to say that with this car I am not able to predict whether I'll like it or not, judging from just online photos.
I'm talking about the aesthetics, and about both the Mk1 and Mk2.
When the Mk1 had been launched, I hated the front bumper design, particularly the black piano parts.
I could consider buying it only in black to hide the most of it.
Now watching my white Mk1 in my garage, I love it more and more, particularly for the fact that I can clearly see the black parts, that make it so special.
I guess it's about being very close to a competition car, you forgive and even praise some rough design, by thinking about the fact that any part is designed for an important and actual purpose.
How could you love seeing the love exhaust in a Lancia 037?
You love because you praise the car in its whole and for what it's about, not because it's perfect to the eye in any detail.
Or look at the GRY Rally1: it's a sort of Frankenstein of a car, very very ugly to see if you focus on details.
But I always tip my hat anytime I see one of these cars.
So my conclusion is that I'm more and more likely to book a white Mk2, going "all in" with the ugly aesthetics of the Mk2 front bumper.
I hope (and I'm guessing) I'll grow to love watching it parked in my garage because of what a GRY means to me, not because it's beautiful to see.
If I'd be looking for aesthetics I'd maybe go for some beautiful monsters like the most powerful Audis... Wonderful aesthetics (to me, at least), but lot of fake plastics that make the car itself a fake in substance, only good for tailgating other cars on straight highways.

I get your thoughts... we can all do the "man-maths" in world if keen on getting the Mk2.
And yes, the aesthetics are very subjective and we tend to love whatever our favorite brands and rally-heros throw at us... but also in that front (literally!) the WRC machines are much more Mk1's than Mk2's at least for now...
...and while the front of Mk1 has been praised for it's aggressive (yet elegant) design even by non-rally junkies, the Mk2 just reminds a "jawless zombie" 😆
 
I don't really care. They both look fine. While looks matter to some degree, it's quite far down the list for me. I think some here are caring a bit too much. It's still a Yaris...

Those that really really care don't want to be seen within 20m radius of a Yaris, and I love that so I don't have to deal with their beautiful personality ;)
