GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

I think its because we assume they know, it was very clear back in 2020 that the communication between Toyota JPN, Toyota UK and the dealers was not very good and quite often we were finding out on the internet days before dealers / UK office were being told. It would seem this has not changed in 4 years.
I have to agree, I think Toyota uk are just an afterthought.
Europe combined is only 10% of global sales with the uk being a small part of that.
UK sales are likely to be hovering just above bottom of the agenda in Toyota global HQ, allegedly .

Its going to be a lottery who gets one so if you have a MK1 then just enjoy it as if you are keeping it because if you don't win the limited lottery.......you will be keeping it and when the disappointment wares off you will probably be pleased you still have the original homologation model at that bargain price. If you have the MK1 you are in a win, win situation.

If you were able to secure a place on the waiting list, do you think you would be able to test drive an Auto before finalising the order? I have always owned MT cars, but get the feeling maybe this would be a great car to have the Auto version, I do already own the Mk1 and love it, but very interested and considering the Mk2 Auto

I dont think that will work because you need to confirm your order within 30 days and the demonstrators will not be available until June.

Same with my dealer, no info at all. I needed to explain 3 times I want GR Yaris not Yaris GR Sport.

Manual states you shouldn't put any wrap over it, but that might just be them protecting themselves.

I didn't see that in the manual, must have missed that.
Anyhow, it's done since day one. I have a full PPF (except for the Forged Carbon roof which is already OEM wrapped ofcourse) gloss transparent from Hexis Bodyfence. Very durable, excellent waterbeading, very easy to wash, protects from UV and stone chips, self-healing from light scratches & chaffs, holds very well. Installed by a professional, the Paint Protection film is guaranteed for 10 years. Furthermore, the cut-outs are specifically for the GR Yaris, even the piano black plastics are covered.

It's in the manual for the matte finish paint of Mk2 (specific to Ogier edition).
Manuals are already available on official Toyota website for Mk2 GR.

I will just add some details about PPF in general that I've heard from my XPEL PPF professional. The issues usually don't happen when PPF is applied, but after you take it down. He was removing some cheaper PPFs from cars that customers bring to him and it happened that clearcoat was removed together with PPF. It's worth noting that PPFs have improved significantly over years and just as a disclaimer, I have a car wrapped in PPF and my Yaris (if I get one) will be too.

Just dropped my car off for a service, they guess the Mk2 will be mid forties. Total guess of course.

Nothing amazing, but I think the following statement below the special editions is new.
50/50 max at the rears to avoid overheating the diff when doing donuts or tracking the car…good mod to have on extreme use.

Is that the original MKI price or the adjusted price that came in later June 2022 iirc? edit: That's the OG pricing, I don't think Japan had a price increase.

I still think there isn't going to much change from the 6MT MK2 from 40k.

Maybe my opinion will change when I see one in the flesh, but atm I'm still happy to stick with my MK1.

The base price on the MK1 is kind of a joke in Japan. The car had a lot of things missing that you would normally want for street driving. Maybe so people competing with the car aren't paying for things they won't use, but my RZHP was more than ¥5.7M out the door, and I added the GR front tower brace, cooling under tray after.

To be fair, I find the 30/70 split worthless. I guess if you just want the car to slide, but it makes you considerably slower through a corner. Even the 60/40 works better when everything is set up to rotate the car. In "Track," the car rotates, and will slip the rear when coming off of a corner, but still pulling hard vs. just "drifting."

The MK2 is much more competition-focused, where they've added things that make it go quicker, and taken away some fluff.

its not actually worthless, Its fun if you want to play with rear in corner exists
Playing with rear grip is the key fun factor for this car - intially was doing with with sport mode but now as getting more familiar with LFB doing it more with brakes.
So for fun stuff feel Mk1 could be better whereas mk2 is faster. does it make it better?
