GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

This isn't science. This is more like journalism or plain old curiosity, many times the people that know, the sources, aren't supposed to talk. Either morally (it's their job) or by NDA (people that need to know so they can supply parts/media material etc).
But you can still be vague and provide a source. A member of the rally team, a dealer, someone at head office without getting that individual into trouble.

Tokio motor show. 12th January.
They're likely to present Lexus and GR model.

from TGR press release
"Also, exhibited are to be both GR and Lexus new production models and vehicles customized under the supervision of professional drivers, as well as GR parts, including GR Heritage Parts, due for sales launch from 2024, and other items."

There are so many parts to this, even if they do anounce it that does not mean it will be available in every country as was the case with the GRMN version at the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon or the GR Corrola. I have a very good friend that works for the UK Toyota press office and unless they are stciking to their NDA they have not said anything to me.

if there is demo cars coming to EU/UK then we might see it here also. But it will likely be to 2025 which is still long way ahead.
Fun to see what kind of offers there will be if we get it from Toyota side. Toyota has already given good offers for finance for some models (but not all).
Though it will be more difficult to sell the existing model utilizing dinosaur skin and bad poison as a fuel unless you are ready to sell very cheap.

The Lexus is the suv with GR running gear.

I'm happy enough for all this to be true, but why are all these matter of fact statements not mentioning their source of information?!
There are press embargos and NDA signed. You’re lucky that you’re getting a lot more info on here than in most other places… have you seen a proper photo of the mk2 model leaked? Wonder why there isn’t -almost- any in the ‘internet/everyone has a smartphone’ era…

I heard it was tested at Finland at some point but have not seen any media either.

Probably because they are running mules that look exactly as the current model, as the exterior mods are probably very small and need no extensive testing?

It's a small world, even if you would provide such seemingly vague detail it will already cast a bad shadow on that whole group. Very un-japanese.
And if I tell my source that is a bit too happy to talk, it increases the chances it's the last time I will get such info... Nature of the game.

Something there - as sure as can be.
Coming to your country - remains to be seen.

The fault lies with your source being too willing to talk not in you sharing that information. And what’s to say they don’t want it going out, it’s been a known manufacturer trick of releasing leaks to drive demand.

its called guerilla marketing. Toyota is quite good with it, at least they were quite playful with their GRC launch at US. maybe not so in EU.
Find it a bit funny though that often average Joe (in our bubble) knows more of the future model than generic Toyota sales rep.

It was track tested recently on a racetrack in Spain iirc, where journalists had the chance to drive both the old and the new (in camo colours) - but it is still 'under embargo' (probably just until Tokyo Motor Show)
That is correct. Same camo as in Estoril When they did something similar with the OG GR Yaris.

this pic of Rookie Racing 24h car was in FB.
At least the auto car will get lots of additional cooling if it is close to this one.
Wonder if everything will trickle to standard car, or if it will be more conservative in terms of openings.

The front bumper seems to have lost its front middle part + missing crash bar? so Maybe not fully street compliant setup.
The hood louvres also with flow wickers could be difficult to get crash approved for pedestarian safety.

Certainly looks like a different profile as the wing flows into the front bumper.

Intriguing!

That photo looks a lot like the car from here:

@Michael Knight where did you get the picture from?
That was confirmed to be a Best Motoring (or whoever) speculative render.

The actual thing if/when it appears, might not be too dissimilar though, at the front at least. I doubt it'll have the chavtastic Fisher-Price dive planes though :D
