GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

If they put ’better’ bits to mk2 and sell them also for mk1 owners it would make sense
I wouldn‘t count on it, at least at the beginning. Toyota wants to sell the GR Yaris2 first and foremost, so I think the parts will be vin locked if they come over… so current owners can consider a switch onto the new model.

No necessarily. But as we don’t have any official GR Garages its maybe unlikely. But, it could be good business for Toyota if they established few such official shops in Europe aswell

Interesting if GR parts will be sold globally

While much of the GR Parts catalog is sold through GR Garage, I wonder if you guys can just order through your local dealer if you have a part number? I'm in Japan, but can get anything from the GR Parts catalog or for the GRMN if I have a part number.

Unfortunately not. The undertray was possible for about a month then Toyota stopped it.

I think that's what @N17whitehartlane did with some bits. Or tried? I vaguely remember him looking at the carbon hood?

With Kinto if you use a legit but non JP vin it says. It's not too hard to reverse engineer a Japanese VIN (they are after all identical to UK ones just need to find a serial number and work out the check bit)

Will be interesting to see what happens, personally I'm happy with my GRY MK 1 but wish I had kept my low mileage RS500 🙈

Hmm, sounds interesting but sounds entirely up in the air on the commercialisation aspect.

To me that's just concreting the GR Corolla 8AT rumours from a few years, and sounds like maybe racing variants of GR Yaris might also get the box.

Morizo saying it being up to current execs doesn't sound super confidence inspiring either. This is the kind of thing he'd push through, but can't now, I guess.

It will come with both Auto and Manual transmission. 100%.

They’ve been running and trialing the auto box for a while, i remember seeing pictures of a GR Yaris running around the Nürburgring with vents behind the front wheels etc, and claims that it was a GRMN Yaris! But no vents like that appeared on GRMN!

I think it depends on Toyota.
1 - If they want to keep it as a niche car or
2 - They use man maths making the figures add up to make this one profitable.

if number 2, the GR Yaris it's due a refresh.

I'm happy enough for all this to be true, but why are all these matter of fact statements not mentioning their source of information?!
This isn't science. This is more like journalism or plain old curiosity, many times the people that know, the sources, aren't supposed to talk. Either morally (it's their job) or by NDA (people that need to know so they can supply parts/media material etc).
