GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

GR Yaris mk2 are being tested. You won’t hear anything official until 12th January aprox…but you saw a hint on Lattvala’s IG post that got edited afterwards…

The same cheese every 4 weeks. This has been going on since 2021, when a test car with a large spoiler drove over the Nürburgring🤣.
well initially that was for GRMN IIRC. Mk2 has been in plans but as companies can make decisions quickly not fully sure if /when its coming.

There has literally been no evidence to support an update. Most people who are giving info don't back it up with any real sources.
Well I have a pretty reliable source, almost hourse's mounth which I chose not to reveal not to put him in a position. But even then, as above, things can still change and it's not a single person's decision if, when and in what extent it might come.

I would like it if something like the EVO's came about back then. Each of the models had its advantages and disadvantages. The 8 Series was heavier than the 7 Series, but had a galvanized body and 15 hp less because the catalytic converter requirement was stricter here. The 9 was better than the 8 except for the gearbox, which sucked. The 10 was a pile of shit, way too heavy and too “modern”. Dare I say, had them all :).

When I look at Europe's development when it comes to cars, I'm afraid that nothing good will come of the successor. Exhaust? Nothing. 0 emission wanted. GPS control, driving aids cannot be deactivated, 250 kg + for extra safety, and and and.

I like to be positively surprised. Like with the Evos back then. One thing worse, many things better. Who knows.

But I don't have much hope in this shitty car-hating Europe.

I think if the successor were to be a real bomb, it would be Japan only.

How so sure, massive evidence needed for that standpoint...
Massive evidence is needed to support the claim something is coming……..

My mate Dave down the local Chinese says no new car coming. Has as much weight as your argument of “from the horses mouth”.

Whatever the outcome I doubt the UK will see anything. For 2024 22% of Toyota’s UK sales has to be electric, any breach of that is £15k per car. Toyota currently sell one yes one electric car in the UK starting at £46k so they are lining themselves up for a massive fine at the end of next year.

The target increases each year:
2025 28%
2026 33%
2027 38%
2028 52%
2029 66%
2030 80%

Toyota and no doubt many of us have long argued this isn’t the correct approach however that hasn’t stopped this coming in. Could we see Toyota pull out of UK car sales as they’ve missed the boat with an electric range?

looking the big picture there is really no point in continuing with GR Yaris mk2.
its too old school in terms of modern trends. So yes I believe it could continue in JPN but for EU and ROW it has little hope.

I'm just really glad I have one and don't really care about the rest.... :giggle:
true that! I really appreciate that we have something special, where others are more or less in high hp heavy cars bandwagon, where the coolest car is with most features to adjust drift angles or pops and bangs..

Our little rally bubble. Wonder what has the pricing history been with that spartan RC model. It would make a very good base model for puristic GR Yaris, with few little tweaks.

Yeah any car with ISA off the cards for me.

The current nag systems are bad enough I turn them off instantly, except PCS... though I don't even really trust that since the only activation I've ever had is a false one.

I'm out of there myself with this ISA and high Nanny Shit.

In the current model it is really easy to get around everything with a simple wiring harness. But that will be over in the future and I don't want that. Nobody believes me, but if the GR Yaris were available for €10,000, for example, I would "just" have to do without the mechanical handbrake... I would be out. I do not want to :). To give just ONE example...

I'm absolutely certain cars that don't have ISA will retain value far better than those with, especially in enthusiast sectors.

Don't want to argue the point, as I wrote I have a reliable source something exists.

But as a public service I do want to point out that the above logic is flawed.

A practical example. You lost your keys and now the question is, do the keys (=mk2) exist in the house (~= world).
You ask all, for the sake of example, 4 household members if the saw the keys.
If one says I've seen them but I can't remember where, it is proven they exist in the house.
If any one of them says, I haven't seen them, this does NOT prove they are not in the house. That would only be proven if you had searched every cubic inch of the house.

Hence, the burden of proof for existence is lower then the burden of proof for non-existence.

Sorry for off topic (but applicable)...

Ah so unicorns exist 🤓

Key there, key gone, who has the key, unicorns. I would like to have sex with Nicole Kidman on your prime time. Am I still in the right place here :)?

Sorry, that's the mountain air🤣.
