I asked, I don't think I will get a response mind!Got that, or he is referencing a (road car) GR Yaris facelift as it literally reads, so just wondering if the duality is on purpose. Just ask (don't have insta)??

This is my thinking. I can't imagine a car company rallying a car where the production model is discontinued, it doesn't make sense to me from a marketing point of view. Fully expecting there to be some form of GR Yaris on sale in the future if they are putting this much effort into the Rally 2 car. However the engine was homologated for what now is Rally2 and FIA even changed the rules to allow 3-cylinder engines. And the soon to debut 2024 Rally2 GR Yaris uses both the engine and the body of the production car, and this is perhaps one reason to keep the GRY alive with an mk2???
reading it again I agree I feel he’s talking about the facelifted rally car.See I read that as him talking about the Rally1 car when he's talking about the facelift.
'We are getting a new body design and the customer motorsport is cool, we decided to change our livery'
I get the impression the Rally1 is body shell change with most of the rest being quite similar to the older car?
I suppose the most charitable way to read that is he's talking about the customer car, but for me this isn't anything better than circumstantial.
just bit odd timing in terms of releasing anything if Germany gets limited set of special cars (early 2024?), JPN get's limited number of special KR SB WC models, and then we would have Mk2?
that 1+1+1 doesn't really compute. maybe if the mk2 would be delivered late 24/early25 it maybe could.
Completely agree with you and speaking to a dealer recently they said exactly the same, one EV in the range is going to be where all the energy will be focussing to fix.I still think that's PR, still yet to hear anything about the potential software update (and been ignored by the German marketing person so far), and the rest looked like a standard Germany model ... especially very weird since they promoted it being in the pearl white and red being for the rally team colours and now the car is black. That makes me doubt the likelihood of the Germany special edition even more, and it being nothing more than trying to sell allocation, especially with the chat at the time that the German market wasn't super keen on the car. My thought is it's just the regular model, with a paint option selected, and hopefully performance pack 2.0... which would be a result for the rest of us if true.
I know, I know, I'm always reading the least positive line with this... I still think it'd be fun to have a MK2 but everything I've seen so far is no way conclusive.
Let's not forget come July 2024 it'll have to come with ISA anyway. Ew.
I'm also a bit dubious about how Toyota is going to get to 20% EV sales and not getting that ÂŁ15k fine per vehicle that should have been an EV. Sure last figures I saw had Toyota at 10.5m vehicles and 2.5m or so of them were 'electrified' but I'm not sure what their pure EV numbers are, they have to be zero emissions so hybrids don't count and, given they don't have almost any pure electric vehicles except the BzXXrYTSa534 which is quite small volume from what I understood due to manufacturing issues.
its just good if model has longer life time -> more spare parts. Let's enjoy it as it is, who cares if it has 20hp more power (on paper) and digital dash.Honestly, if Toyota dares to launch an upgraded Yaris GR in 2024, I'll be flipping tables – not just in frustration, but in a fit of raging jealousy. I've been strutting around, proud as a peacock, believing my GRY was as unique as a unicorn in a field of horses. But no, Toyota just might shatter my illusion. It's like finding out your 'limited edition' collectible has a twin. Now, I'm in a real pickle – stick with my current ride or betray it for the newer, flashier model? It's the ultimate dilemma. I'm secretly praying Toyota botches it up somehow. Maybe they'll slap an auto transmission on it, make it as heavy as a tank, or keep it cooped up in Japan. Something, anything, to save me from this automotive soap opera!
Sounds like the kinto programme available in Japan.Found this around the internet. Related the the German 'special edition'
"The only difference lies in the selectable vehicle set-up. This is set up before delivery by the delivering dealer according to customer requirements. As already described (...), there will be more information on this in Q1 2024"
So if that is Performance Pack 2.0, it sounds like German Dealers are applying it and more details coming in Q1.
Let's hope it makes it's way to the UK.
Let's hope it's also not 10k uplift for the German GR just for Performance Pack 2.0
I'm definitely interested in that, not even really interested in making the steering faster or even adjusting the awd ratios for track mode, I'd be happy for some more torques
Sounds like the kinto programme available in Japan.

Let's not forget come July 2024 it'll have to come with ISA anyway. Ew.
Actually even if the car were to be released immediately (before july 24) it would still need to comply with ISA, if it's a new homologation (which is 99% sure necessary for even a facelift)
"from 6 July 2022 for new vehicle types and from 7 July 2024 for all new vehicles."
