GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

It’s the Corolla dash.

Prefer manual dials 6-0 - though its nice to see exact water and oil temp

It feels great waiting for 2.5 years only to see the car you've been waiting for get outdated before you could even drive yours. Good job Toyota!
They haven't announced anything so far. This is just the rumor mill that has become very active.
I'm not saying that an Evo isn't coming but I'd imagine that they'd try to finish up production of the first model before launching or announcing the second gen.

Think if I could afford one to go alongside my GR86 I wouldn't mind the auto to have best of both, providing kickdown could be disabled and no auto shift up when it touches limiter as there are scenarios for both where you don't want the gearbox doing for you. 8spd seems a bit much but had 7 in the Fabia and it was fine. Best auto box I've driven is the optional one in the i30n's. It's really good. Better than VAG's DSG by miles.

The quotes and what the article alleges might happen hardly tally at all. I can’t see for a moment why Toyota would bother updating the GRY when they can’t seem to build the orders placed well over 2 years ago for customers in some countries.

Seems to be total guesswork based on a few rumours and auto transmission testing, which could be for competition cars or a different car entirely.

They have been testing auto box in jpn rally series whole seson 2023 - car has had some technical stuff - no clue if all transmission related

In Gran Turismo 7, you can drive the GR Corolla since one month if you fulfilled certain requirements in-game. The car will be available to all users from Thursday onwards.

Of course you cannot switch the display mode of said GR Corolla in GT7, but you have the big screen in its "Track Mode" or whatever that screen layout is named, and to my taste, I prefer the analogue dials of the Yaris with the smaller screen in-between. The big screen in the Corolla is a bit soulless for my taste. But just personal preference, of course.

If you have GT7, feel free to make the comparison yourself, best experienced in VR.

Yes, it's what I am thinking to... I thought the car wouldn't have a second version and would keep a good value in the time, but with this second version, I am not sure...

Of course, I didn't buy the car for the purpose of making money, but it was one point for taking the decision compared to other cars...

Same here. I should be getting mine during October and it feels like I have been played by my dealer.
I really hope I will not be deceived to have the "old" version instead of the possible new version, especially since it is my first new car...

All in the same boat. When I ordered mine 3 years ago it was still a '25k limited production incl 115hp jap ones' story, and country allocation that was running out. But at least I have gotten to enjoy my car for 2yr+ now already, waiting the same time to get an 'old' car is less fun, although it should hopefully be usefully cheaper than a 'new' one and you can probably still sell the 'old' one at no loss....

To all enthusiasts still waiting for their GR Yaris: Already "version one" is such a wonderful, capable machine which does so much right. If there is a next version coming, it does not have to fix any substantial flaws with that car. The next version will be finetuned and honed in details.

For comparison, in a German sports car magazine I read an article recently that the first iterations of the first-generation AMG-Mercedes GT were very difficult to control at the limit, and that only the facelifts made it "driveable" for non-race drivers. That is where I with my limited driving skills would look out for a facelift.

Enjoy your GR Yaris pre-facelift, guys, and I am pretty sure the technical improvements made on the facelift can be achieved with after-market solutions as well.

I'm not sure deceived is the right word.

You'd be getting exactly what you ordered. Also there is absolutely no chance this car is going to be the same price. And probably be a different model code.

Let's also not put the kart before the horse, there's no guarantee this model even exists for sure yet and if it does whether it will even get to Europe. This could yet be a JDM exclusive.

It depends on the criteria you use to judge such things.

You care about driving the thing?
Just buy literally any one, whatever suits your budget. They’re all great.

You care about driving the bestest, fastest GR Yaris?
Buy an original and sprinkle it with a few goodies. It will be faster and better handling than the new one, and likely still cheaper.

You want to make money on the thing?
Buy literally any new one and never drive it and in 25 years it'll be worth a fortune*

You care about being seen in the newest and best by your neighbours/colleagues/insta followers?
You need the new one, sorry :)

Found on Facebook, take it with a pinch of salt if you will, but apparently 304ps and 8 speed auto available.

Bringing these pics up again, good chance they are fairly accurate (aka based on inside intel) based on the info I've seen so far.

I hope that is what the new one looks like, as I'll be very happy to keep the original!
Amen.

If this is indeed an update rather than eg a Corolla, then it reminds me of a similar thing with another Homologation special (Clio Williams owners when versions 2 and 3 came out). My knowledge of that is hearsay as I was still a toddler then but I heard that some weren’t super happy. I do wonder if it’ll come to the UK though.
