GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

- 8 gears are better than 6. Just like 6 is better than 4.
- AT FL is more expensive than MT at the dealership. Supply, demand, complexity, whatever.
- I made a choice without considering what anybody else ever thinks. What’s the point of this debate?

I rest my case. 🎤 ⬇️

🍻!

And in other news…

Ok guys new problem here. Considering we have ultra black ice day here and it was raining around 0 degree celsius, half of my yaris is now proper block of ice. Have anyone tried the remote start climate function? Or if you have any experience with this whats the best way to do it? Obviously starting it up and slowly warming the car would be the best, but I am afraid I could damage the window if I would just force open it.

I use remote start I wouldn’t worry about what temperature you set so go high but let it run for the 20min and see how it does.

Using remote start every day, that would probably be the easiest, but not the quickest, i would freeze off enough to be able to drive and get in, and rest wash in an automatic car wash with warm water.

You say "proper" ice block? You've got to use another Word man times are risky🤣🤣🤣
The ice look very compact if you unlock the car and just open that door the ice Will break and fall, the glass Will not suffer any damage with that.

Just tested it out, first time actually in a year of owning this car. Worked fine, managed to warm up enough to melt the ice around the doors. Rear will stay frozen till end of times I am afraid :ROFLMAO:

What the hell is a "remote start climate function".
Well basically remote start with climate functions :ROFLMAO: Its funny because recently my brother got darkhorse mustang and he was complaining about not having it in EU, obviously in US version has it. Well he might have 5 more cylinders but now I have proper ace in my hand! A totally not niche function for our climate!

Remote start climate function lets you pre-heat or pre-cool your car's interior before you get in, using a smartphone app or key fob to start the engine and engage the climate control (AC/heater) to reach a comfortable temperature, often defaulting to the last settings used or allowing adjustments for a more pleasant cabin experience. It's a convenient feature for extreme weather, warming the engine and cabin in winter or cooling it in summer without entering the vehicle first.
How It Works:
  1. Activation: You use your vehicle's mobile app (like FordPass, MyToyota, or a key fob) to send a command.
  2. Engine Start: The vehicle's engine starts remotely.
  3. Climate Engagement: The climate control system activates, running the fan, AC, or heater.
  4. Pre-conditioning: The system warms up or cools down the cabin to a set temperature or the last-used settings.
Key Features & Variations:
  • Preset Temperatures: Some systems let you set a specific target temperature in the app, while others use your last-set temperature.
  • Automatic Settings: The system often defaults to the temperature and fan speed you had when you last turned the car off.
  • Timed Operation: The climate control runs for a set duration (e.g., 10-30 minutes) or until manually stopped.
  • Heated Features: In cold weather, it can also activate heated seats or steering wheels if equipped.
  • Connectivity: Most modern systems rely on connected services and may require a paid subscription for app functionality.
Important Considerations:
  • Safety: Never use remote start in an enclosed space like a garage to avoid carbon monoxide buildup.
  • Vehicle Status: Doors, hood, and trunk must be closed and locked for it to work.

I would never use remote start climate function. Nothing is as bad as getting temperature in your engine without immediately driving it.
“Nothing is as bad” feels a bit strong here ;)
There are quite a few things in life and in engines that are far worse. Remote start barely makes the list.
