GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

Maybe, but i doubt it, as the registration was possible straight up without any new model homologation, and my car was delayed in Malmo by two weeks, i think someone registered a manual or so before me, toherwise that would take some time extra, but off course, cant know for sure. i know that two more manual models were ordered soon after ordering was opened, so i can just guess. But i cant say i have seen a lot of them around anyway(MK1), just a few here and there from time to time, aint everyones cup of tea, and especially considering the price of the new one, doubt there will be that many.

Well, Belgium was the first country to open order books, and they were sold out in an hour. So I'm 100% sure I ordered before you :p

There are a few in Sweden as well, but I think it more like an advertisement of the new car than really to sell them.
From 54k to 57k eur

Acc. to car.info there are already 44pc 280hp GR Yaris registered in Sweden, of which 21 auto. Anyones guess how many are actual owners and how many are stock. Far exceeds my expectations and perhaps explains why there are quite a few mk1 for sale right now. Have a hard time imagining the mk2 will sell as much as the mk1 (almost 300, of which almost 30% were exported) so just need to have patience with my mk1 sale ...

So today I had a test drive of a new manual car, the Snows Waterlooville demonstrator. My car is due with them end of October but an automatic.

My post from the other day covers the majority of changes although I did notice the door handles have changed from chrome to a shiny metallic colour not that it is anything to get excited about.

Wireless CarPlay very quick to set up and the buttons have been removed from the media display and are now digital on screen. If you don’t need to use them, then you can hide them and make the CarPlay screen bigger.

Setting off the biggest change that was noticeable straight away is just how much quieter the car is in the cabin. Road noise has probably dropped 5 to 10 dB! (At a guess) however this car did have a boot mat that came from the factory so that could be part of the difference. Even the windscreen wipers were completely silent whereas mine with new blades still makes a bit of noise.

Acceleration, you can definitely fill the extra power and talk and just feels constant power through the rev range, the square with the gear number on the display then flashes amber or red depending where you are in the rough range for you to shift up and I found it was within my peripheral vision.

Handling was definitely more direct through the steering wheel with suspension slightly firmer, this was tested out on some very rough roads with some big compressions, but it didn’t take away from the cars ability to dart along B roads at pace.

The gearbox was a lot nicer to use still slightly notchy in the lower gears but a lot smoother than the previous generation car.

I deliberately left the speed limit warning on for half of my drive and I can easily see myself not turning it off when doing commuting or long European drives it beeps once when slowing down into a lower speed limit and I think it was two or three times but quieter when going over the limit and then it stops. It was nowhere near as bad as what I thought and you can go in the settings and change it quite quickly.

No changes in cruise control and lane assist other than the buttons are a different layout which took some time getting used to the new layout but that’s like any new car.

The new improved visibility is great although I never found it an issue to change in my car it’s certainly better.

old MT RC vs new MT RC vs new DAT RC

Interesting results. The new RC just barely quicker and DAT last.

Not stock cars, same suspension for all? Tyres? Not a place where engine power makes a big difference?
