That’s a grab I believe from the video.
 
I think I see the name of Slovenian guy who got it on the roof. Owner of Toyota dealership in Slovenia and an ex rally driver, what a farce. He is an enthusiastic but also made sure he took advantage of his position.

Sounds about right. I used to own a Focus RS before and when they brought out the limited Heritage Edition my local dealership got one and registered it in the name of the owner. Ford UK didn’t want to know when I contacted them.

I guess this is not the way it was intended by Morizo and Toyota Japan about assigning special editions.
In fact, in Japan they assigned all of them through a ballot.
I know that even a ballot it's not a guarantee of fair assignments, but at least it shows better intentions...

My dealer assured me that Toyota doesn'r allow their dealers order these cars if there are actual customers waiting. And that's for the normal ones.
Pretty sure they special edition ones have been fairly Selected. Otherwise you would see a ton of YouTubers up there.

And yet another review which focusses on the price but doesn't calculate general inflation.
This would be the same as saying "A Dacia Duster is way to expensive, the price doubled in a couple of years". It did, but it's still by far one of the cheapest cars available as all prices have gone up.

Yes Markku, you are correct.
Watched it this morning and then washed my lovely red GRY in the sunshine (sun always shines in Yorkshire by the way!) and had a cold beer while staring at it. What an absolute delight to own this car and I didn't even drive it. That comes tomorrow when I am setting off up into the north Yorkshire dales for lunch at tan hill pub and about 150 miles of glorious "B" roads.
Watched the video again and these are his comments I noticed:

- No more fun than old
- No less fun
- Digital instruments are fine - I saw these at Goodwood and they are nice
- Very slight difference in character
- Auto is fine
- Manual sudenly much more engaging and alert. Fizzes and whizzes whatever that means. Does that mean I need to go faster than 30mph in mine?
- Finally, he said it isn't a bargain price fun car anymore.

We clearly got the MK1 car at a very good price.
Would I tell others not to buy the MK2 - absolutely not. If you can "easily" afford it then get it if you can especially if those small differences are important when you track it.

My conclusion is that it is a slightly changed cracking small hatch that anyone will love to own.
Buy it if the money doesn't matter that much but the MK1 is still a beauty.

I have ordered another tub of Lanoguard to spray it again before the autumn as it looks pristine underneith (9k miles also in winter) appart from a couple of small patches - palm of hand near rear springs. I must have missed them with very, very light dusting of brown. That will be treated with a chemical, brushed with the Lanogauard grease and then sprayed all over. The rest - 95%+ is as new with a waxy - oily clear film on it from the previous 3 sprays.

So, am I disappointed I didn't go for the MK2?
No. I paid £31k for mine new and it has two tiny stone chips which I touched up and it looks and feels brand new at 3 years and 2 months.
My heart says get the MK3 if possible in 3-4 years.
My head says keep the original GRY for life and put that extra cash into say the Lexus Morizo or GR YC in a couple of years by trading my new Yaris Cross to be the daily.
I haven't a clue what will happen but whatever it is it is a win, win situation because the GRY is so good in whatever mark you have.
We are all so lucky!
 
Yes, Toyota thinks you can try it in Switzerland, although the expert reports here also cost a lot.
 
Hello everyone. What are you guys choosing for transmission, automatic or manual? On my last Yaris GR I liked the manual, but sometimes struggled a little bit between gear 4->5 on track, felt like it wanted go to third instead of fifth gear sometimes. Dont know if its just me, but that made me keep it on gear 4 sometimes when i should have changed to fifth gear. Im a little afraid of loosing the fun if going for the auto, but i would be so nice on the track to focus 100% on the track. Car will be used for track-days. What did you choose?
