GR Yaris GR Yaris from France

Ahah you want to enjoy some wet/cold drifting ?
Yes.
You are more in east France, aren't you ?
No, I live in the South West between Bayonne & Pau, and my playground in the Pays-Basque - Béarn. I used to live in the South East in RAllye Monte-Carlo country, with much much more interesting B-roads than in the South West.
Where do you live ?
I'm quite sceptical about oil sump for GR. They do not seem that efficient, I thought about it but came to the conclusion that if I don't use big wide semi slicks (like 255 A052) with proper track coilovers it is not really needed yet ...
I'm not that sure. There has been some feedback on this forum where guys tracking there car and datalogging found that the car had slight oil pressure drops below 1 bar (very short duration) during hard braking and cornering.
It is usual practice to slightly overfill oil (~0.2 liters) during oil change to reduce those oil pressure drops . Now hard braking and cornering does not occur only on track, it can also on B-Road blasting...
Thanks for the weight advice, I'll start by a diet and taking out rear seat. Lithium battery are worth a set of tyre, I'd rather do a trackday ahah
You're welcome, anytime you need stupid advice, call me !

I feel that the rear gets too light over 200 km/h with the OEM battery on track, but each to their own.
Best option for me would be a lighter battery and aftermarket rear wing to increase downforce a bit.

You're probably right, at those speeds a rear wing will definitely force the rear down. We were speaking about B-Road blasting, where you hardly ever, we can even say never reach those speeds. It's not the same exercise blasting down Rallye type roads and track daying.
Mods / Improvements on the car aren't focused on the same elements.

Ah you are a lucky guy. I went to your countryside several times and there's indeed lovely pieces of road everywhere.

I used to live in Cantal, near Aurillac, so I had my share of back roads. Now unfortunately I'm in the Vexin Francais, not far off Magny en Vexin. There is small roads where you can push a bit but it is far from being as good as Cantal or Pays Basque. The luck I have is that I have some tracks not far away ( LFG is 2H15, Ecuyers less than 2h, Clastres 2h, Dreux 1h but really small one, le mans is 2H30 ...)

I do overfill 0.5L as was adviced here. Should be enough with road tyres. If I were to use wide track tyre however ...

I agree that hard braking can definitely occur on roads. In my opinion, a moutain road driven properly can easily be harder on the car than trackdays with proper warm ups and cool downs. You are rarely counting kilometers on a mountain road ...

So, quick update to what's going on with the car.

Vibration under braking haven't totally gone away. I booked a visit to my trustable (it happens sometimes) shop, they are going to inspect the brakes, bleed them properly with RBF600. I'm pretty sure stock pads left pads deposits on the discs that are tough to see without lifting the car. They are doing competitive racing / drifting so I expect them to find the solution.

Then, I'll fit the duct to cool engine oil.

After that, the car will be ready for some spring trackdays :)

Best case I'll do a trackday during december. Maybe directly book one which wet track (they spray water on it) to experience some sideway fun in a more secure environment. Else, I'll wait for january/february. I'm think about tracking the car only when it's cold outside, with greasy or wet track. Less wear for the car, more fun for the driver.

It would be good that I somepoint I look into how to make engine oil temp more readable, maybe with another display than stock one. It is really tough to read when driving on track !

Engine Oil temp is easily read real-time and logged (for post drive interrogation) with a simple OBDII reader paired via bluetooth to a smart phone running Torque Pro App.
