GR86 Exhausts

Has anyone thought about going the valved route with universal valved mufflers?

My friend's 911 has just had some installed and it's a game changer, especially for those early morning cold starts.
 
Do you mean a valve that can be operated and basically make it straight through?

I think that would be so extreme, mega loud when open and mega quiet when closed.

I actually don’t hate the sound of this… a higher pitched exhaust suits this car and it’s not overly raspy.
It is a little “McDonald’s car park” sounding though but better than a lot of the exhausts I’ve heard.
 
I'm still yet to be blown away by anything on offer. I think the HSK Hi-Spec 2 is probably still looking like my favourite choice. The AWE Touring sounds good, but is still far too loud for my tastes. The Apexi a few posts above sounds a bit too raspy. Going to be tough decide; especially as there's not exactly going to be many cars in the UK, so not much opportunity to listen in person to what other people might be fitting. Videos don't always give you the best impression of how an exhaust might sound.
 
I'm looking forward to seeing what Milltek produces for the GR86. Their exhausts were really good sounding for thr GT86, however they were plauged with cracking issues. If I remember correctly they finally got on top of it after 3 revisions, but by then the damage was done and word had spread across the community. Hoping they apply their lessons learnt for the GR86.
 
I hope there will be ANYTHING street legal in Europe at all...

A bit of a contradictory statement, they were really good but they were terrible for cracking and it took them 3 attempts to fix it. They didn't sound any different to other exhausts out there which didn't crack.

Yeah true a bit contradicting :D but it was like a double edged sword; sound was good but had quality issues. But from my perspective they did sound different to others, admittadly it was in the finer detail. They were more noticable once a catless header was fitted. If I remember correctly (specifically talking about the resonated exhaust) it didn't bark as much as the others when you came off throttle, but it was also quiet enough without having that windrush sound (hard to explain in words) that was a result of a heavily baffled muffler. But of course we'll have to wait and see what comes from other companies once car availabilty in europe increases.

If I remember correctly the Milltek for the GT86 was TUV approved, so lets hope its the same for the GR86!

To be fair, I’m in Bradford and we get Golf Rs, RS3s, RS6s and such racing everywhere and just being a nuisance. I’m all up for a fun drive but using launch control on a residential 20MPH street is never going to end well.

As long as it’s sensible and doesn’t get to the extent that it is in California, then it’s all good.
 
Has never bothered me, one of my neighbours has a Camaro ZL1 1LE on straight pipes, I pitch a tent when he starts that up 😂 his F150 Raptor is loud too but the Camaro is something else. Most of the other neighbours despise it though, I used to get complaints about my i30N but that stopped when he arrived!

Meanwhile Manchester police are trailing microphone based noise detection systems on roads, to allow prosecution of any vehicle with excess Db levels…
 
I'm sure the db levels they will be prosecuting at will be louder than most people could tolerate if it was on their own car. Those intending to track their cars have to contend with this anyway, can't imagine there are many ASBO owners on here.

The kind of demographic this targets is going to be cars that don't sound good anyway.
