I like the design. engine could be bit more brisky though but it could still be a fun car to drive.

Valid point that do you need a faster car than 7.7s 0-124mph, this is over 1s faster.

Luckily every thing went fine as they could have gotten into problems with this HANS setup.

They adjust the level of regen braking, i.e. how much the car uses the electric motors to reduce speed(and recharge the batteries) when you let off the throttle.

Most EVs these days it's possible to drive them without the brakes entirely - One Pedal Driving - only relying on regen as you lift off the throttle to slow the car. Many Tesla owners are still on the original discs and pads 50, 60, 70,000 miles into ownership of the car.

yes and was it also for controlling when to use Attack Mode (TM) . quite complex but apparently fast.
The only modes needed in GR is your right foot and gearchange lever, they define the size of your smile.

Agree, this looks ace and is a serious contender for my good lady's next car when our Skoda Yeti is retired. Hmm, yellow or green...

$130k more to go 5s faster around Laguna Seca than a Plaid.

I could buy a Tesla Model S Plaid as a daily, a GR Yaris toy and a 997 Turbo S toy and still have money left over.

Johnny whatsisface left that out of the video I saw when it was released.

I thought it was an oversight. A Maxi version with AWD/RWD might be interesting.
 
Interesting on protectionism. I am against too, only hampers development and in the end makes everything more expensive...

Upconing EU regulation on batteries will make a more fair technical competition, regulating everything from production, use, repair to resuse and recycling.
 
Legacy Auto wants the EU to cut tariffs on Chinese EV tech for one reason and one reason only.

They cannot compete with Tesla on COGS, they are losing money on every EV they sell and want the Chinese to supply them technology which they can badge with premium euro brands. Volvo and VW are already heading in that direction having bought stakes in Geely and XPeng respectively.

With the pending ICE bans, unless European legacy auto can profitably sell EVs they will die.

Watch the news around Jaguar in the coming weeks, seems like they are about to go bust and will be spun off out of JLR group. Who will buy the Jaguar brand? CCP Auto.

16k is definitely a more realistic price for the average car buyer. Proof will be in the pudding if 64bhp range topper, and a range of up to 137 miles is sufficient but a huge step in the right direction for accessible EVs.

I would love such car. 75-100hp, light weight and cheap. perfect for daily.

I know, I'm just being facetious. I really like the Honda E personally, shame it's so expensive.

I am pleased to see low cost EVs hitting the market. I do wonder if Dacia are selling this profitably though. People harp on about sustainability from an environmental perspective, but economic sustainability is the more interesting topic for me. Cannabilising ICE profits by selling unprofitable EVs can only last so long.

Even pure EV companies are struggling to make the business work. I really like the Rivian range but on average they are losing $43k per car sold. Last I looked at Lucid they were losing $340k per car sold.
