Good video and there’s nothing new there for me. I did 60k miles in 3 years in 3 Tesla’s - it is by far the best network. My experience was driving all over the U.K., France and Switzerland. Whenever I was too far away from a Supercharger, I’d say 80% of the time I tried using another network it either ended in failure or was ICE’d. Indeed ICE’d chargers is a frequent issue, even visited hotels where Tesla Destination chargers were ICE’d. So you’ve always got to have a contingency plan.
As he alluded to in the video, sometimes it is better to do short charges than one longer one. But it all depends on the time of day, how busy the roads are, how urgent you need to be somewhere etc. It’s not as simple as just applying the same formula every time. One aspect I ‘miss’ are the quick mental arithmetic challenges of working out the most efficient and cost effective way of getting somewhere!
Now when I hear of friends buying their first EV and then bemoaning the charging system, I have nothing but a wry smile. Yes the network is in its infancy but it isn’t growing at anywhere near enough the scale required. My last 6-8 months of driving the Y I noticed more and more Superchargers were full and on occasion the queues were up to an hour to get on one. Sure I could always go on huge detours to find one that may be free, but seriously, what’s the point?

New Alfa Romeo Junior looks promising. Handsome looking thing, getting good reviews, and not daft heavy at 1635 kg.
(We're in the very early stages of looking at something to replace Ms Fox's excellent, fun, but ageing Mazda 2)

I’ll be keeping my Corolla at this rate. Absolutely no interest in SUV
at all.

Not a fan of SUV's myself. The Ioniq 5 N is marketed as SUV in the US, but as this pictures shows, it's hardly jacked up... it's just a big hot hatch....
But yeah EVs tend to a bit higher in the body due to the batteries in the floor. But the c.g. is usually lower then an ICE so it doesn't drive like your typical ICE SUV...

…and to be fair manufacturers are building what the focus groups tell them what people want. The entire EV debate is clouded by the fact that 80+% of people aren’t interested in cars at all. It is something to get from A to B. A ‘high up driving position’ regularly features on people’s list of demands.
It is easy to be snobby and disregard the majority of new cars, but we are in a minority - and even then people are very split with what they want. Personally I find the premise of a high up driving position to be a bit pathetic. It doesn’t matter what you drive, you should be able to see clearly and anticipate the conditions in front of you.
Perhaps this is a fear people have, not necessarily with EVs, but with most modern cars. They have become so easy to drive that you almost feel like you’re losing the skills to operate them?

I think this is deliberate so automation comes in sooner and it's why so many drivers now are complacent as the skill (of which they had bare minimum needed to pass) for many has disappeared. If you're not interested in driving, there's no interest to get better at it. The next gen of kids won't learn in a manual and the next, probably won't even drive, merely be present while the car does it for them.
looks like the Mustang Mach e, two cars put on top of each other sort of high thick fat thing. 1635 kilos now considered not daft? nearly twice the weight of an original Honda Civic or Pug 205 etc etc !!!
This technology has been available for decades, it's called a taxi and in reality is probably cheaper than buying/leasing a car, paying for servicing, tax, fuel, insurance etc, dunno why it hasn't caught on.

Apparently there are services called Über and Bolt etc and they seem pretty popular. Maybe you've heard from them. There are also services where you share the cost and the vehicle of different formats, and get on and off at defined places, apparently where I live the vast majority uses these services and it is said it is insturmental in keeping the city liveable. When visiting other places without these services I can definitely tell the difference.
I'm no expert as I haven't used the former services ever, you're supposed to use this micro programs on your handheld electronic device, nowadays even for the latter technology that has been ages ago since I used it and don't really know how to use them anymore. I tend to prefer the motoring car and drive around smaller versions of myself.
I do use another service from time to time that works better then a doctor visit and doesn't use any fuel or electricity and flushes out gunk from my veins. It also enhances the senses and feels like playing a real life arcade game in avoiding obstacles, not sure if that was originally intended though. Use of this intricate technology also creates space for motoring vehicles in densely polulated areas that would otherwise entangle themselves and get stuck as everyone is trying to go to the same places. Unfortunately this technology isn't always appreciated by said motoring vehicles as for some reason they don't understand the service provided.... I tend to use it myself when heading to crowded spaces not too far away as I deeply dislike getting immobilised and waiting. The smaller versions of myself come along behind me also in this case, although packaging can be more important depending on time of year.
That's technology for you.

This does sound impressive, but wait til you hear about this one method where you don't need any service or equipment or anything at all. You simply get to another place by moving parts of your body in a repetitive action which is adjustable in terms of speed depending on the distance to be travelled, physical fitness of the operator, and personal preference.
It doesn't' cost any money and I don't know why more people don't do it to be honest.

That is the upside, a lot of bargains to make (in the UK, not nearly as good here) and very low running costs if you can charge from home too.
To add, UK has some great firms that will help you servicing and also fixing HV batteries in the unlikely case you have issues (about as likely as the engine going bang on a ICE car of similar age?) at a cost far below OEM replacement as is often referenced in the media.
They can also help you with checking battery health of a presumtive 2nd hand EV purchase....
Connecting some dots when it seems people my middle age seem to be dying like flies and several closeby catching the big C. And a bit forgotten in this discussion.
Roughly double as many people die prematurely from air pollution compared to car crashes (US data).
Let that sink in. I know I previously made the incorrect assumption that air pollution is mostly tied to lung cancer. It's not. It's tied to most of the diseases that take people from us too early, if you care to look a bit deeper into the subject. Yet almost never is a link made to this topic. Because realistically, you can never backtrack and pinpoint the cause (at least in todays medicine...) for individual cases.
Anecdotal, but succesively moving away from more to less polluting ICE cars and eventually EV in my personal use, I can notice a clear improvement in my lung health. I used to have coughs that lingered a long time after catching a cold. No longer. Anecdotal, but backed by data in the big picture...
I already did this type of commenting on the 'trend' of removing GPF/OPF from daily driven enthusiast cars. Well I did it again then...
Not relevant to driving enjoyment directly. But indirectly, very much to the joy of life...
