Civic Type R

I’ve seen a few FL5’s now, one in particular in championship white was parked next to the owners black FK8. I’ve seen the same one on the road a few times driving along the A6 south of Stockport.

They have so much presence in the flesh, big car but absolutely awesome.

This, like much of these guys' content, was very enjoyable.

I wasn't aware of the Acura Type-S and what a shame it isn't available here. The ability of the Type-R but clothed in a stealthier, more subtle, more understated package.

Yeah, I saw Cammisa using one in a drag video and thought ‘nice’.

Seen a few switch from GR86 to these. How have they found them? Pros and cons? I'm not selling the 86, only weighing up what replaces the daily one day. I drove an i30N and loved it and same for the FK8 so these could still be contenders too

Probably 60k which is lot for a badge and some stickers as the carbon and lighting packs are current options. A few GR86 owners have gone to them. I will eventually but as a daily and not to replace the 86 as I want to own both. The sticking point apart from £45-50k for a stock new one is luxury car tax which you can't even get around if you buy used.

I'd like one too, but I'll never pay luxury car tax for any car. Goes for the gen2 GR Yaris too. I'd like either to use alongside the GR86, so I'll just keep my eye on them in a few years time. Okay, only after they are six years old. Thinking of getting something else next year though, so maybe enjoy an mx5 for a few years and see what happens. 🤔

I’ve never understood why people get hung up over luxury car tax, yes it’s frustrating that it hasn’t increased with the rise in car prices but in the grand scheme of a new car purchase it’s peanuts.

Agreed it's not much, although it is something in the grand scheme of things. 5 x 400 = 2000 and there are enough newish cars that I'd like to own that don't get hit with it, or it's passed them now. So happy to get one of these before an FL2 type r or gen2 GR Yaris.

It's the principle and another way of the Government to punish those who do well enough to afford a car over £40k, which is a joke as even boggo cars are getting into this territory now. For £2k I could be buying a set of lightweight alloys.

Cutting your nose to spite your face.
