Civic Type R

Just in a case anyone is considering feels remarkably like the GR process, deposit with a dealer, little to no info month on month.

I did enquire but couldn't justify £47k, I'd be in an M2 comp or Cayman for that. I likely wouldn't have got one anyway, local dealer wanted a refundable £1000 just to be in the queue. I should be experiencing one on track in the next few weeks, I am looking forward to that!

Yeah, it’s not for me at that price. The FK8 was out for me because of its looks, the FL5 is better but it’s not exactly beautiful either and the (partially understandable) price hike just means I’d be looking elsewhere.

If I didn’t already have a GRY and I was thinking of spending that much I’d probably be looking at something like a 991 or M2 Comp.

Saw that Honda have stopped taking orders for these as component shortage and home market priorities. I would have one but like others have said there is little to no chance of getting one.

Recent Evo article compared it with an i30 N, rs3 and golf r and the civic came first beating the i30 by a very small margin and they said the Type R can't deal with our crappy British roads very well regardless.

Honda have taken the CTR as far as they can - I'm sure it is the state of the art FWD car but it is too bit too big. Reading between the lines, it doesn't cope well with the adverse conditions often found on a B road, in the UK at least. No such problems with a GR Yaris, which is reminiscent of the EP3 CTR but updated a bit.

Sum up from EVO.

Buy the mag!

Hijacking the thread slightly but I considered an i30N. Then the Yaris appeared and it was what I’d been waiting for. The i30N looks quite practical though with great handling and I would still like to test drive one to see what it’s like, even a few years after first hearing about it .

Maybe a good swap instead of another Golf GTI (I sold my Mk7 for the Yaris arrival) when my OH’s i20 (not the N version!) has to go. We are currently a 2 x 3 door car household and need something bigger.
