GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

Is there actually a first delivery date depending on the country?
Switzerland speaks of July 2024

So if this offer is out for new orders of a Yaris, would Toyota have to include the GR??

*Core Terms

*2.9% APR Representative and £300 Deposit Contribution only available on new retail orders of Yaris between 3rd April 2024 and 1st July 2024 and registered and financed through Toyota Financial Services by 30th September 2024 on a 42-month Toyota Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) plan with 0%-35% deposit.

I'm not expecting any incentives or offers on the GR - I'm expecting 8.9% or whatever the standard rate is.

The finance incentive on the standard Yaris helps to make the car competitive compared to the competition. The GR Yaris has no competition and is built in limited numbers.

The 0% from 2020 no doubt appealed to the masses and helped sell cars, as Toyota didn't really know whether the car would be a success, in the UK and worldwide. In fairness to them, they honoured the 0% deal for the majority - I believe someone recently still benefited from it on a late '23 delivery.

They are obviously not forced to do this on the GR Yaris.

In Belgium, one of the insurance companies has an app to get a contract. Usually the "high-power" versions of cars are listed separatly. For the Yaris, it is not... This means you can get a GR Yaris insured as if it had a 105HP engine :D

Interest rates are coming down, but that doesn't mean Toyota will need to offer discounted rates on a GR. Quite the opposite in fact.

Here, Toyota is offering finance at 6% APR, down from 8% a month or so ago I think, and my bank is offering 5.4%.

It's all relative though. The small loan I took out in 2022 for mine was 1.6 % APR. Doubt we'll see that kind of rate for a long time!

Interest rates are coming down

Are they?

ECB has held rates steady since Sep '23, BoE has held rates steady since August '23, ditto the Fed since July '23.

Inflation came in hot in the US for March. I don't see a cut on the horizon until Winter '24 at the earliest. Would not surprise me if we don't see a cut until '25.

I agree that a base rate cut isn't imminent, but base rates only have a loose impact on retail lending. Various other factors are priced into the premium over them, and in a high interest environment with little prospect of base rate rises there is plenty scope for lenders to adjust downward to win business and still make money with an acceptable risk profile.

Here are the ECB figures for retail property loans. The overall picture for unsecured loans is a little more volatile, but tend to follow this with some lag.

I mentioned the lowered rate for Toyota Belux, and I know from speaking to a German colleague that BMW were offering him some fairly low rates on an M4 Competition the other day, something like 4.x%, which definitely wouldn't have been on the table six months ago, or even three.

Which one is that? I will check ;)

Belfius. Just entered my details, and will come at 1177€/year for full omnium.
Apparently, they don't care about horsepower (if I put in a Porsche for the same value, the price stays the same).

This just got me thinking so I checked my policy.

My insurance said:
In the event of theft or total loss of your vehicle, this cover ensures compensation up to the replacement value during the first 36 months, i.e. the catalogue value excluding reductions and discounts (after the 36 month period, a 10% increase will be applied to the compensation).
So, if I bin the thing in the next 12 months they will have to get me a new car, or pay out 50,000 € or so?

Interesting... :D

So I like this new bumper, to be honest I find the FL more attractive. everyone can buy what they like.
You're free to like what you like mate.
You're in an Echo chamber of MK1 fans here that like the MK1 design and quite a few of us dislike the facelift bumper :D.
Be happy that you'll get something that you'll enjoy and us MK1 enjoyers can continue enjoying what we've already got.
To me the new one looks good from some angles and not great from others..

I like the new bumper, but I prefer the wheel arches of the MK1. Not sure if they actually changed, but on the MK1 they look more like a widebody kit. Possibly due to the straight vertical line in the bumper.

Is white pearl atill the colour to go with the Mk2? The silver looks nice too, still on a fence which would I'd choose. What do you think?

I paid 870 euro for my old GR Yaris. Of course the new GRY is 25% more expensive...

Sorry for the OT stuff, we should get back to discussion of the car itself :)

I'll start: why is that new front bumper so ugly? :D
Actually I didn't like the Mk1 bumper either, initially. But after looking at it in my white Mk1 in real life, I liked it much more.
Hope it happens the same with my Mk2, since it's white itself as well.

I have to say that the first photos of the GRMN version suggest how the appearance of the lower part of the front bumper could be improved a bit.
By adding a splitter, and by covering in black the standard painted splitter, it becomes less obvious the fact that the front bumper this time comes in three separated parts, and that it looks like they were designed by three different people who don't like very much working in team...

We have 1.49% offers from Toyota but only with certain models
