I got the email from the Ombundman today as well. Lets see the outcome. I cant realy on TFS as I didn't take out finance.

I feel a class action coming on. If every one of our members supported the motion Toyota could not ignore. Just a thought....
If the MO/FO fail to come up with the goods that may well be the final nuclear option.

Keep the thread updated if you can, be interesting to see how the 2 routes pan out.

I submitted my case to the motor ombudsman back in November but I’ve heard nothing since. I didn’t buy the car on finance so they were my only option, kindly recommended to me by Toyota Buy Online 🤨

I think my submission to FO was around then too. Be patient.

Something else I forgot to mention in my emails to the FO when I was compiling their list of failures (so if anyone is in the process of going to the FO might as well chuck it in) was the optional extra premium for flat "pearlescent" paint.

Just to clarify, for me it's The Motoring Ombudsman.

Has anyone in the UK tried this new video from Kevin Võ? With the UK spec cars?

I've not watched this video but there has been references to US cars in the thread and none of it applies. The alarm doesn't exist on UK cars, also confirmed by TGB.

Official response from Toyota Financial Services is that they have upheld my complaint in part and offered a paltry sum of £100 as a 'gesture of goodwill' lol.

Load of cobblers is my official response.
So what part was upheld…..and not upheld? 🤔

The last goodwill gesture I got from Toyota was £1200 worth of sound system for my GT86 when it was a month late. £100 is pathetic.

No doubt if a car is one month late now the response would be oh well. 🤷‍♂️

I didn't understand the part upheld bit, but is likely to be that there is indeed no alarm fitted.

They spouted pretty much verbatim what the buy online team responded with when I raised the issue with them.

Interesting 🤔 Thanks for keeping us updated. Still don’t know if there is a viable alarm system that ‘fits’ this car. I’d feel much more comfortable if it had one on it!

That is what we are all getting as a standard response from TFS, get on to the financial ombudsman now, the more complaints we get onto his desk the more it will cost TFS (£750 for each complaint investigated I think it is, so there must come a point where they think it is worth just coughing up proper money in the first place to stop the flow of complaints).

I was only thinking about this thread this morning, lol. I haven't heard from the FO for a while but they did say it would be a couple of months at least I think from last contact.

There is a system that can be fitted, there won't be a car out there of any age from any manufacturer that couldn't have "something" fitted to it.

I think there is possibly a penalty on our insurance premiums too (dunno how much though) not having an alarm, with both alarm and immobiliser it is classed as Thatcham cat 1 but no alarm and it becomes cat 2 so Toyota/TFS should be compensating us for that too.

I filled out the online form for the FO at the beginning of March as a result of your kind advice and followed it up by sending certain documentation that was requested a week or so later which was added to my case file.

I now will inform my in investigator of this latest response from TFS.

That’s pathetic, what an insult!
I’m still waiting for a response from the motoring ombudsman, 5 months so far 🤨
