GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

around (backs to
front and fronts across to back) at around 5,000 miles?

N/S tyres generally wear more than O/S tyres due to the fact we go clockwise around roundabouts etc,. It’s why Taxi drivers (and some driving instructors) tend to stick a budget tyre on the NSF wheel as they wear quickest and are cheaper to replace.

Hadn’t thought about that, but another good reason why to rotate tyres periodically.
 
tested the top speed today on the autobahn! It is definitely soft limited. I felt like the car could do much more. I was able to maintain 230 kph even on long steep hills.

Suspension was stable and the car felt absolutely ok at those speeds. The oil temp peaked at about 108c.

Was that in 6th or 5th? Some cars hit a higher top speed in 5th because a the soft limit in 6th. In Mexico I've only taken it to 130 leptons so far but was very stable
 
Washed, clayed, ceramic'ed. Very shiny. Took a pack of fresh 36 microfibre towels on a rinseless wash, oh how I would love to have an external tap and pressure washer!

Picked up a fair few stone chips on the front, alas the lack of PPF didn't take long to hit home.

Now is when the real fun starts. Just under 4k miles on ours now and loving each extra mile as it loosens up.
 
I went shopping a needlessly long way away with some nice roads in between!

Sun’s out, Guns Vacuum’s out! ☀️
Polished my Cobra back-box; did an interior spruce and added my G(R) man bobblehead; cleaned the 3D floor liners and stored ‘em away until Autumn; inserted my plush custom floor mats.
**Those of you with strain 86 ‘Logo-phobia’ should avoid staring at the photo montage below… 😝

Removed the wheels, cleaned them and put them back so that all four valve caps aligned towards the bottom (pointless but satisfying).

Also discovered how crap the finish was by ‘Ecosse Powder Coatings’ 🤬, so I’m getting a set of new ‘Summer’ wheels/tyres and having the OEMs re-done elsewhere (to gloss black) for Winter.

Centre caps don't align with the valve caps. Reported to moderator.

I'm not a fan of powder coated wheels. It's supposedly a more durable and chip resistant finish, but I have found that be the complete opposite. The finish isn't great and it's brittle, that might be due to application but I'd prefer painted. It also doesn't heat up the wheel for curing which can make them more brittle apparently.

There is probably a good argument as to why OEMs don't use powder coating on their wheels.
