Hi @Jayware33 Have you tried giving us a call to run through a quotation for the vehicle at all?

Thanks

Ben
Hi Ben,

Thanks for the message, I have insurance in place through Admiral which is workign out £380 a year thanks to home insurance and mult-car discounts. I wouldn't be looking to move right now but will keep you guys in mind at renewal :)

Also Ben, can I just point out the irony of your location? Thatcham ...
In response to your previous reply, not an issue at all, just bear us in mind for the next time you look at an insurance quote, we would be more than happy to look at something for you!

Also, yes, you are exactly right about that, i was wondering how long it would take for someone to point that out :ROFLMAO:

Attempted to fit a Stoplock Pro into the GR86. After beeping the horn at every attempt I realised that the device is too shallow for the steering wheel and it was compressing the centre of the steering wheel. SWMBO even came outside thinking that I was in trouble and was asking for help (bless her). Pro version returned to Amazon and Elite version ordered. Every day is a school day!
The Elite version fits fine, you may want to add some padding where it sits on the wheel to spread the load, then its perfect.

I did, they then told me to take it to the dealer for condition assessment and valuation.

i told them I wouldn’t be cancelling the contract unless they look at the law on mis representation which indicates that wear is not a consideration. Its a cancelled contract, so the law states your entitled to a full refund.

Yesterday I sent them a notice of action, which gives them 7 days to respond. No response, and its time to pay for the small claims court action. In the action, I’ve asked for a reduction / repayment to offset both the absent alarm system and the auto dim rear view mirror.

Its unfortunate that the admin hear have issues with sharing diner details on actions. Should anyone want a copy then message me a mail address and I’ll forward the notice of action.
Very interesting. Keep us updated. https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1967/7

I have just received an email from The Motor Ombudsman "We've now completed our review and we've confirmed that this is something we're able to investigate further.

Your case is waiting to be allocated to one of our case administrators. When your case is picked up, we'll get in touch to introduce you to your case administrator and let you know the next steps."

I've replied noting that multiple owners are in the same boat so they may want to group all the cases together for action. Would be good if others who want rectification raise their own cases at https://www.themotorombudsman.org

No indication of lead time, but their website suggests it won't be quick. Hopefully Trading Standards will pick it up soon as they may be able to do some arm twisting.
Thanks for the link to the ombudsman, I’ve now submitted a case to them after getting the brush off from Toyota. They have replied saying cases may take 6 months before being allocated to an administrator but at least the wheels are in motion.

I submitted my complaint to the Motor Ombudsman yesterday.

For anyone who took Toyota finance get onto the lender (They have equal liability), they have a maximum of 8 weeks by law to finalise a response and if you are not happy with that you can go to financial ombudsman.

Toyota are being funny, as in un professional and I’m struggling to get information regarding the address of TUK legal department.

Would anyone here know the correct address to send my 7 day notice of intention to action?

As above send it to their HQ, it's up to them to get it the right department, send it recorded.

My final reply from Toyota UK.

Thank you for your email regarding your Toyota GR86 MY22.

With reference to our previous email our conclusion is this model does not have an alarm unit fitted. Sadly, we are not able to advise on a retrospective fitment or a compatible third-party unit. We are unable to offer a contribution to have a third party alarm fitted. I appreciate you wanted to log this as an official complaint, so I can confirm this complaint has been logged officially with Toyota (GB) PLC Unfortunately our position as explained is final and we are not able to meet with your expectations of providing an alarm.

Has anyone tried the 'Disabling the smart entry & start system' using the door open/close method? Does this just disable the Keyless function or the entire Remote Fob lock/unlock/boot functions?

Standard cut and paste given to everyone.

I was only thinking about this thread yesterday since I have had radio silence since my complaint to Toyota FS, they are obviously just going to run the 8 week clock down all the way before fobbing me off, then it will be the financial ombudsman.

TOL totally unresponsive for me now…

So while my emails are landing on deaf ears I thought I’d offload and send them another “snottogramme”

I feel better now

Responded to their generic email, just to put it on record that we're not satisfied and would have expected some sort of offer of rectification. Not expecting a response, but might be worth something later down the line if it's decided Toyota have to offer a solution

The instruction in the user manual(open and close door many times) is wrong and won't do anything. You can only put the key in sleep mode to stop it from emitting signal.

We sent a letter to them a 3 weeks back, as per the advice from Citizens Advice Bureau, nothing back so far. My letter gave them 2 weeks to reply and they're still silent. I'm not annoyed about the alarm thing, I am annoyed at their ego!

Anyone considered taking a claim to the small claims court? I'm considering this route to get enough out of Toyota UK to cover the retrofit of the Cobra.

During lockdown, my friend bought a Porsche Macan and supply chain issues, the car was delivered without electrically adjustable steering column. Porsche automatically gave my friend a cheque for the lack of the standard option.

Why can't Toyota UK do the same....?
