Why the need for a GR-Zoo???

Is it possible to move over some FAQ-type posts that I've done in any way but copy pasting manually?
The best way is to reveal the BB code, and copy and paste that in, as it should ensure the formatting is maintained (on the whole).

WOW! :)

Thanks for your support all, good to see lots of familiar names in the last couple of days. Offers of help are always appreciated and once we know which way is up we'll be in touch. You'll all be pleased to hear that advertising is not part of the plan (do we have a plan?) but any donations received from members and vendors will go towards paying the bills.

All mods have donated time or money to this project, which we only started in late November and we hope to meet up with many of you at future events.

For UK based owners or those wishing to travel to the UK consider joining us at Japfest in April where we have already organised a stand and if you wish to support the forum then please make a donation for some GR-Zoo stickers.

Thanks for joining us and remember this forum is not just for Yaris, but all GR cars, so if you know anyone with the GRMN or the Supra ask them to sign-up and get involved.

Chris and all moderators.

Another thank you for doing this. I wondered why those ads had appeared over at the other place and why it was allowed.

Well I've come across now too - thanks for putting this thread up to help explain things. I'd thought it was all premature as I hadn't noticed any difference in the old place (until the crazy ads appeared yesterday!) so it's interesting to hear about the problems you were having as mods.

I suppose I was mourning the great community and resource built up over the last year or so in the old forum - having been then from the early days it seems a shame in some ways to be starting again - but I guess it's the people who made it what it was, and if we all move over here, then hopefully it'll be all alright in the end!

In terms of the future of this site, I'd be happy to contribute financially occasionally and wouldn't be adverse to some advertising, if it's appropriate and not overwhelming - perhaps some of the registered vendors would be willing to contribute to fund the site in return for some simple advertising banners or similar. That way we see a limited number of adverts that are actually relevant and things we might buy anyway as GR enthusiasts.

Good luck and thanks for putting the effort in - you could have all just thrown in the towel so good on you for trying to make things better for us all.

Cheers, Chris

P.S. how do I turn off the snowflakes - they are making my eyes hurt! 😆❄️

Thanks Guys the other place was melting my monitor with Ad`s and it was sad to see it go the way over many other forums.

So a BIG thank you from me !!

Count me in for a donation now and again.

Now to just "rip" the content from the other place and get it up here. (y)(y)(y)

Quick question… Do you know if mods on the other place still have the permissions to delete a thread? I would quite like to remove a thread before content potentially ends up behind a paywall or something.

Best to report the thread on there and see what they can do.

Thanks for setting this up.

I was able to get rid of the Ads at the other place using one of the suggestions (and no blank gaps). But it all felt a bit 'poor form', and having ads between actual posts is just a joke, yuk - what were they thinking?

I moderate on another VS forum, but the ads are nothing like the ones all over the sodding place on the Yaris one.

Having a forum for the entire GR Community run by enthusiasts is a great idea and in some ways a natural progression. The GR86 will hopefully be with us soon , with the GR Corolla to follow, so more enthusiasts looking for a home. I’m sure people will be happy to talk GR whatever model it is 👍😎

This forum has the opportunity to become a great place

The idea of combining the GR models is genius, the GRY is at the end of its life production wise & the GR86 & GRC are about to start :)

There are going to be more GR models in the future, the promised real GR Hilux for instance

So thankyou Guys for setting this up (y)

^^This.

I think its quite unique to have a forum dedicated to a series as opposed to a model. I like the idea of it, not too concentrated and centred around one model but not as open as something like Pistonheads. Although I will be spending a lot of time in the GR86 section, I'm a car nut and have a lot of love and interest for the others especially the Yaris, so I will be involved there too.

Not to mention it would great for meets and track days, imagine turning up to Supras, GR86s, Corollas and Yarsiseses.

+1 to all that. Except your pluralisation of Yaris. Sounds like a nasty yeast infection.

Due to my Yaris still not being here I've not been around as much but I wondered why the other forum was quieter. Even with adblock it's still a pita to browse so thank you for setting this up. Community owned and ran is always better.

No disrespect to the Canadians, but they ruined the MLR and look to have done the same to gr-yaris.co.uk in double-quick time. Shame, especially all the content we provided gratis but which is now no longer guaranteed to be freely available in perpetuity.

C'est la vie. Onwards and upwards!

Can someone ban me and delete me from the other forum please as I'm fed up of that idiot droning on trolling about touching the standard turbo for more boost. o_O
We have told him time and time again it is not that simple you chop shop loving dumbass...
:cautious: (n)

Can but wont, you can get your username redacted under GDPR regs but the threads and posts remain. You'll just appear as [Deleted-User]
Good luck with that. Who is going to do the redacting?
