I've got a Stoplok Pro Elite (scroll through the post past my music storage waffling for a picture of it in situ).

i have it pointing down rather than up (unlike the Stoplok picture) and I don't have any marks on my steering wheel thus far.

I have a Milenco wheel lock. Primarily because it has quite a low profile, which means it's quite easy to stow away in the back when not in use.
I used some anti rattle tape around all the parts of it which would be in contact with the wheel, and so far, no marking.
 
I have had a couple of Disklocks for years and brought a Stoplock (Pro I think it is last year).

Disklock Pros
High visual deterrent
Would need to make a hell of a racket getting it off
'Probably' the best
Some Insurance Companies offer a discount
When the spring shot out across the car on unlocking years ago the company sent a new one very quickly.

Can mark the wheel (started using other halfs old silky staff on the wheel to protect it). Marked my Boxster wheel not happy bunny
Rattles when stored (mf towel placed in between sides prevents that)
Heavy and awkward to remove and store
I have only ever marked the interior of my car twice in 3yrs driving, steering wheel as above and trying to place in rear footwell it fell open denting the handbrake leaver in the Leon.

So I still use one on the Leon or MR depending on where parked, but am very very careful. I don't use anything on the Boxster. GF has Stoplock on her Ibiza.

I think I’d probably buy their steering wheel cover as well as the storage bag then. The storage bag has Velcro so it sticks to the boot floor…

Isn't there already some sponge/rubber inside to protect the steering wheel?

I have the bag was free with the first one but to be honest I think in the last 20yrs I have only used it a couple of times. Its a great idea but in reality most people stick it in the footwell. And stating the obvious but make sure it doesn't fall open and hit the car as you get out the car with it.

Sounds like I don't like them, I really do great deterrent but just need to be careful with them.

For anyone wanting extra visual deterrent security the wheel clamps made by Bulldog will fit on a GR86. A bit of a faff if you're using the car every day but good if it's parked up for a while.

I got the milenco one and it seems pretty smart. Dead easy to put on and take off - where other types can be a bit of a faff. Mine came with 2 soft contoured trims where it rests on the steering wheel rim to protect- like this

That looks better than mine. Maybe you've got a revised model? Mine doesn't have that contoured edge.
 
Can’t say I’m overly impressed with the SmarTrack S7 Tracker (from Global Telemetrics). Last night I got a text warning to inform me of vehicle movement alerts.
After calling their 24/7 hotline, the operator said “We can see it in Paisley, is that near you?” “Eh, no mate” I replied, “that’s the other side of the Country - and I told you I sold the car, over five weeks ago.”
Geofence alerts had always been a bit ‘hit & miss’ with the SmarTrack, even after a visit by one of their own engineers. This has only reinforced my doubt about using them again for the GR86. “Your car has been stolen - five weeks ago”, yeah thanks SmarTrack ya Bawbag! 😤
 
GPS trackers are decent in urban and city zones with good cell coverage.

This issue is that once your away from 4G and 5G zones then it all goes to poop. We bought a very expensive cat tracker, and at best it was 100m zone, at worst (due to poor cell coverage) the cat was on our lap and showing as being 1000m away.
 
Steering wheel locks seem to have become a thing again since keyless entry. I’ve read it’s possible to disable it on the fob. But then I read that there’s a flaw in Toyota/Lexus security where the scumbags can easily bypass it all and drive it away. There’s talk of old school switches being installed and 3rd party immobilisers. Back to the 90s.
