GR86 GR86- Cars for sale - General Discussion

It's now at £35,750 :D

I can't help feeling they're reading this thread and changing it for a laugh.

I'm going to buy it now before it becomes totally unaffordable.
No longer on AT, wonder what it sold for, assuming it has?

Ah, the famous Zebedee emerges from the twilight zone of press duty.

A few of us on here sat in that very car way back in May 2022, a good six months before any UK test drives or deliveries.
Sat in Zebedee at that show. I think the press cars are interesting curios and usually many years later have a certain appeal and can have a "famous" price premium attached but that seems to come many years down the road. I think personally they are one to avoid particularly if there are plenty of photos/videos of it "on track".

"Yeah always kept under 4k rpm mate"

(Yes pedants I know it's not ZBD but you get my point)

That sounds reasonable, given the low mileage. There are going to be 40+ ex demo cars coming up for sale at the end of the year. Can imagine they have had a hard life, not just from customers but from the staff. My cousin is a fleet mechanic and always has access to cars. They get thrashed, he has told me about competitions trying to get the lowest MPG popping out to get lunch. Even worse with electric cars. How much range can you lose in a mile 😂🙈

I test drove the demonstrator at Vertu Leicester about 4 weeks ago, at the time it had done around 2000 miles and was showing an average of 18 mpg , guessing that’s not had an easy life!

I suspect you’re right. They can likely hold an appeal or have increased value vs a non press car for some buyers. Even then the timescale will have an impact so 25-30 years down the line and against a backdrop of write offs and degradation of the rest of the cars registered. It also doesn’t change the fact it will have been well used and abused and probably a bit baggy. Not what I’d want personally.

Although on the flip side everyone knows “rental cars” are the fastest so 🤷🏼‍♂️

I reckon a fair bit of the poor MPG will be down to shuffling it around the dealership premises and also a lot of idling as the sales person talks them around the car while the engine is still running, but yeah, a no f*cks given approach by unaccompanied test drivers is also to blame in the main.

I feel guilty now.. The demonstrator I drove had 50 miles on the clock.. it was wet… I didn’t go over 4,000 RPM but loved the car.. I’ll stick some bodge tape over the MPG display as SWMBO thinks it’s going to do around 40MPG versus the ~50-55 we’ve got out of the ePace 🤔

Call it a challenge being economical.. I like a challenge

I wasn't. I was the first to drive the demo on the road so they were nervous. I'd scouted a quiet section with a mix of roundabouts and a fast S section. Did the S section well, got to the roundabout which then heads right up a hill and I did a small drift off the roundabout exit and fired up the hill. Felt mega. Told sales man it was exactly like Gran Turismo. He went white :ROFLMAO:

🤣

If you'd have said Grand Theft Auto, I wonder what he would have done...
GTA, oh yeah! That was a real Gen-X WASD/Mouse Aim funfest. None of your Millennial Triangle/Circle/Square snowflake goings on there me-hearty! That said, my first ‘Gaming PC’ was a Commodore Amiga 500 (1987) 😆

Typing 100s of lines of code for "Man-eating Budgies" on the ZX81 was one of my earliest childhood memories 😬

The world has gone to sh1t. People can't afford things now and even when I find myself looking at new bikes (want something I can rag back and forth to work to keep the mess off the Triple), there's no incentive to change as the deals are crap and I couldn't justify it when I have other things that need the money. For many, whatever car you have now is it for the foreseeable. Fine by me as I'm never selling. There's definitely a bubble due to burst but the casualty I can see being private car ownership, at least for NPC's who will lease a white good. Even new 86 sales may drop off anyway as while it's limited, it's more outright and over £500/mth I've seen. That's more than my mortgage.

21 For sale on Auto Trader now. Wow.

That's more than 2019 or newer GT86's

Thats due to none of them actually selling at the prices being asked, cant see why anyone would pay 2-3k over retail price while there is still a good chance you’ll be offered the option to buy from Toyota.

Expect things may change once Toyota close the UK order book and confirm no more cars will be coming.

If most of the first batch have been delivered now, is that even that many out of around 400 cars, all of the above points considered? Genuinely no idea, but doesn't seem many.

There are 43 Lotus Emira on there and they must have sold similar numbers?
