It’s not exactly been a walk in the park for most waiting for a GR86 either. If you have signed a credit agreement you should still be ok with the finance as Toyota have honoured it so far, despite a few dealers trying it on.

I mean you were 9 months late to the party ordering the GRY, 9 minutes late with the 86 would have not got you a car.

It’s worth the wait. And what else is out there that’s similar?

Light 3 door all wheel drive sub compact hot hatch with physics denying grip and plenty power, specially developed body, platform, engine, transmission, awd system and with frame less windows and thank god without bloody rear whiper?

Uhm, nothin 😆

Oh and it's the first homologation special and pure toyota sports car since ice age.

Also still available to order for the Japanese market, along with the Japanese limited edition model coming so I guess there will some production still happening for a little longer. Just hope mine comes, if not I hope they tell me sooner than later as I will hunt down a used low mileage one asap
 
Just heard something strange...
Someone linked to the Toyota importer here in Portugal (yes, it's not Toyota itself in the Portuguese market, it's an importer) suggested I should indeed wait for the next batch of orders, which will open maybe at the end of the year.

The strange thing is he says that these new orders will be for an updated model, with a lower driving position, digital instruments and more power, probabily similar to the GR Corolla.

Has anyone heard something about this?...
One year to be able to order, one and a half to, maybe, get delivery... that's two and half years... 😤

I'm sure it will be it's just that when I was initially quoted 18th May 2022 as a delivery date and we're now nearly 9 months down the line:mad: and as you say, there is nothing else like it out there and probably never will be again.
 
I'm in a similar position to most on there that have ordered but are getting silence from their dealer. I placed my order (in UK) early at the beginning of July 2021, but I am not convinced that I actually have an order (I have an order ID that starts with "EM" but I think that is just an invoice number) or that I am on a waiting list. I've emailed Toyota online, will revert when I get an answer.

Have you got the My Toyota app? If you download it , then it should show your actual order number that starts with a K.
 
The app does not work in Germany before you actually ge the car though. :/
 
Well, for once I think I got lucky... I had no order placed and was not able to place one, since orders are suspended in Portugal from last December.

Early this week, I got a call from the dealer... they have a Black Circuit Pack GR Yaris arriving by the end of March, early April, and the client who had ordered it has been refused a lease contract by the bank (or got fed up from waiting)... they wanted to know if I was interested.

I immediately said yes and made the reservation since I was not willing to let an opportunity like this go by, especially considering all I have read here.

The dealer already has a VIN number so I believe this means the car has been built and may be waiting for transport from Nagoya... by friday I'll have more info and try to work things out through MyToyota App...

Let's see if I really got lucky.

Yeah, hopefully. I still find it a little hard to believe, to be honest :unsure:

Yesterday I was given the VIN number by the dealer. Since this was someone else's slot, I don't have an order number.
You guys reckon I can still use the MyToyota app before delivery? I think I will try....

Although, the estimated date of arrival to port here in Portugal is 5 March... from I what I have read from the other treads, I think this means the Yaris is already on the vessel and in transit...

Getting a little anxious, I guess :)

If you out the VIN number in on MyT , then the car should appear in the colour and specification. That’s how it works in the UK. I did this when my car was on the boat , and all was ok.

Apparently it's like in Germany.
The MyT App simply shows the model... and in the right colour...
Guess I'll just have to wait and see
 
Sooo. I am 20 month im the waiting game now. I've been talking a few times to the dealer recently. While asking about some other stuff he by the way poped out "... and because we have not gotten the VIN number YET, so I can't track your oder and tell you a delivery date." And I was like what the heck? The dealer told me it's not possible to track the car with VIN in Germany.

I have the bad feeling, there is no real order placed. Just some list slot or something like that. Toyota japan told me it's one of the last orders though.

To be honest, I am waiting for so long now, if it pops up, great, if it doesn't, to bad but I have some more serious business at the moment, so I'm fine anyway.

If you have an order number you should be fine, it seems you have as Japan have confirmed where your order is regarding future production. It will be worth the wait
