GR86 EVO car of the year

*SPOILERS*

Wowsers what a write up 😍 spoilers already been posted so not feeling bad about posting.

Go and get a copy.

How it beats those other cars to 2nd place is stunning.

Cheapest car above ours other car is £108k most expensive is £245k.

Lowest horsepower above ours is 469 to highest 819hp.

0.5 points off the win, 2.2 points clear of 3rd place.

This has given me a serious boost considering how 🤬 off I've been recently.

The result seems quite ridiculous when you just glance at the photos of the cars together but what a great read. I'm actually excited about this car again! Come on Toyota, 1 more step to go!!

When I saw the group photo of the contenders I was thinking of the phrase "take a knife to a gun fight" Glad it did well. Is the paper version in the shops tomorrow?

Yes, Weds in the shops to pick up apparently.

I’ve just finished reading this. Gave up my Evo subscription a couple of years ago as it felt like deja vu reading everything (I’ve got every copy from 001 to 280something), but I bought a copy in Smiths as had a train journey.

What an excellent result for the GR86, they were really impressed with it. Can’t believe it beat the GT4 RS and the 296 (I didn’t even know about the MC20).

It’s also made me wonder how I could run one alongside the GR Yaris (Yaris is going nowhere). 🤔

Finally got round to buying it today. Just got back and comfortable on the sofa with one of the dogs and about to read it, when......

......the wife messages me to go around the village pub and meet her and some members of the family.

Still, it was a nice time and now I'm back and ready to read in between final prep for Christmas. 😁

By the way, the photo was originally to the wife telling her I was busy, but she one. 🤣

My partner wishes to know more about your dog.

But more importantly, I have some questions relating to your apparel.

I can't quite work out from this photo if you are wearing a pair of jeans and a similarly coloured shirt, or if you too have an appreciation for fine sleepwear.

Ha ha. The dog is a yellow lab, more working type. We also have a chocolate one, that is a bit more of a show type, related though.

Clothes are classic Americana (Japanese) workwear. Edwin indigo selvedge denim jeans and Sassafras blue chambray shirt. They are quite different in colour when you see them in their entirety. Some might say "double denim", but I'd never consider chambray as denim. 😉

Nice. Do like Edwin selvedge jeans. Tonal dressing, with different texture from the shirt. Entirely unsurprising from a man of such fine taste as evidenced by your car colour choice. :)

If you like that sort of clobber check out rivet and hide, I’ve spent a small fortune in there over the years. Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten though.

I've looked on their website before, haven't bought off them, but have some stuff from the makes they sell. Kafka Mercantile and Clutch Cafe are my favourite places to buy.

I've now read and fully taken in the article. They really do like the car and it's amazing how well it did against that company. Not surprised though. 😁

Looking forward to Harry Metcalfe’s thoughts… I’m guessing he still reads EVO mag, and I’d say on the strength of the recent eCoty issue he’ll be nabbing a press car from Toyota for a few days testing?? Or maybe it’s not quite a Harry’s Garage type of car…

I hope he does. He had/has a GR Yaris and likes more simpler stuff like his Lancia Fulvia and Lotus Elan, so I would have thought that he'd like a go in one.
