ANOTHER SPOILER ALERT - Just got my copy in the post - got to say that was a very strong 2nd place against some insanely good cars. Missed the win by half a point, and 3 of the drivers out of 6 placed it 1st. Bloomin’ great result, I’ll take one…
Some commendations there.
I see this also as a victory for what many driver enthusiasts have since long seen as the formula for real world driving fun:
- Lightweight (relatively) (often sacrificed for lots of hp)
- NA (or rather throttle response and fun to rev out)
- 'enough' manageable power
- Manual shift (a good one)
- A great chassis balance
- Control feel (steering, seat of pants, brakes)
- Suspension that 'breathes' with real roads rather then optimises laptimes.
- a driven rear axle (although a few great fwd exist too)
- not too big/wide car for the roads
- Outright straight and laptime performance and high price tag don't compensate for any lack in the previous points...
It's been a long time since a car met all these criteria straight out of factory to this degree and for such a low pricetag.
Still not everyone gets this, two cars here in Sweden for sale at list for almost two months! As to why, it is on PH amongst other places...
Personally I am considering it, the only reasons to abstain are I already had one in it's predecessor which I carefully finetuned to fulfill the above criteria (at about the same final price) and thoroughly enjoyed, and it is taking a very special car (GRY oem+), for me not to want to have another one. Otherwise seeking ownership would have been a force of nature here lol
Some would say having both is even better, but I'm a one (fun) car person, too many cars one looses focus (at least as a hobby with limited free time next to a busy and rich life outside of cars too)... Wouldn't mind a drive in one though (just read there are 62 owners in Sweden already)....
Anyone getting one AND driving it on the right roads, is very lucky and I wish them very enjoyable and safe miles.
