GR86 GR86 - The “I’m thinking of cancelling / did cancel my order” thread

I’m guessing the new CTR will come with an ISA system in place as it won’t be type approved for Europe yet. It was one of the factors that made me go for the GR86 as initially I was waiting on the CTR.

Worth getting one to flip though. Type R’s have a huge following and if it’s limited like the GR the markups will be enormous. Look at the new RS3 and even the later FK8’s.

Wait until they decide to see if they can sell 2 year’s worth in less than 90 minutes to wup those Toyota U.K. folk and decide to go online at the last minute 🤔, hope it’s televised I’d like to see that live 🤣🤣🤣

My Honda dealer is not taking deposits yet, it needs to be under 40k to get my business.
Good thing its not online ordering, just waiting for the Dealership to get in touch once pricing is confirmed.
 
With the recent updates and orders actually moving, with deliveries possible in Q3 this year, are you guys generally happier / changed your mind about cancelling?

TBH some of the dealership experiences I’ve had in the past I’d have been happy to buy online if it was as efficient as some of the online stuff 😎, unless you are looking to put pen to paper there and then don’t bother , better still try telling a VW salesman that you think the interior of the iD4 is 💩 , and I’m a longterm VW owner having had over a dozen from air cooled beetles to Golf R 😂😂😂

Will say JRT in Hull are a nice bunch to deal with so not all dealerships are rubbish 👍😎

My fiesta is on order with Evans there (Im originally a hullite so frequently pop up there). May pop in I'd forgotten there was a honda stealership there

I think he likes it as much as I do. I've said it before, but I'll say it again.....

I love it in silver, it just looks so good. And I truly feel that it's all the performance you need for fun on the road, even if I still like / want some faster cars. 🙄

Thanks for posting that video, it's nice to see the guy review from the viewpoint of evolution from the gen 1, I thought he was going to cry with emotion at the end 😃. I currently have a GT86 and can truly say I love it, so I think the next one is going to be superb, going by this guy's review.

I've watched this a couple of times now. This chap seems to really, really 'get' the GR86 and what it stands for.

I think if what he says in any way resonates with you as a car fan, you'll really love the 86.

In addition I agree with you @AlexB , if you enjoy the GT86 (previous owner myself) it's hard to see - from what we've read/seen/heard so far - how we can be anything other than blown away by the new 86.

Just hurry up and deliver them already!
 
I'm creeping closer to jumping ship now in all honesty, with my Celica gone (great price, couldnt turn it down) I'm itching at the bit to get another car.

If it finally comes in October on the 17th, as Dev tools suggests, then thats another 75 days car sharing with the wife, which isnt a problem per se and its a lovely car but a Honda HRV Hybrid isnt my idea of fun...

Ive spied a V8 Mustang on Auto trader that has peaked my interest quite considerably...

Going without will make it all the sweeter. I'd not driven much for months as vRS couldn't be relied on but then had to drive up to Cadair Idris from Swansea at 3am. Lot of the route is old commute and all the muscle memory kicked in. Lets just say it was brisk progress and felt amazing again. Now the car won't move bar tip runs. Palette will be well and truly cleansed when it finally arrives.
 
This is my first new car purchase, I'm not used to having to wait more than a couple of weeks to get my car once I've decided Im buying something. Wouldn't have been so bad if I knew upfront what the lead time was likely to be.

Getting itchy feet as well now tbh and the excitement has well and truly warn off.

Latest straw obviously being these engine issues which feel hugely ironic as an ex-Porsche owner! (Sold early as Toyota said delivery was just around the corner!) I thought I was moving away from worrying about things like that.

I think we should all ask Toyota uk to put in writing that the engine failure issues have been rectified before we all pay the balance for the cars, if they won’t confirm then goodbye 👋

I’ve always fancied a Mustang. Love the ‘Need for Green’ special edition 👍🏻
