Definitely sounds plausible. Is that a factory sensor with PID available in Torque?Just speculating, but I've been logging boost pressure before the throttle body also and notice it sometimes spikes. So my theory is in low gears boost spikes so quickly the electronic/pneumatic wastegate isn't quick enough to adjust, so instead they use the, very quick, throttle body to regulate the boost?
I have it on the JB4, if not in torque it should be possible to put inDefinitely sounds plausible. Is that a factory sensor with PID available in Torque?
I'll take a lookI have it on the JB4, if not in torque it should be possible to put in
We're talking about throttle valve. Recirc valve is used to bleed boost too though. Turbosmart writes in their instructions their valve is made to be as fast as the original (being heavier and stronger?), to avoid issues.I made a thread about the turbosmart BOV....could that be faster than the stock one? And couldnthat be one of the advantages vs the stock one?
Obviously the main thing with the Yaris is it's trying to cap and control the boost with the throttle.
Yeah there will definitely be good reason. Unfortunately the only people with that info at the moment are Toyota and the people with that tuning software.maybe there's a good reason why it is done in stock software. just thinking..
You were spot on with your earlier assessment as it was just confirmed hereFrom what I've seen the pre-throttle boost tends to spike in low gears, guessing the WG has some latency, so the faster regulating throttle controls the manifold pressure?
For me throttle reduction due to the reasons listed above made the GRY's performance/accelerator pedal more inconsistent than any other car I've driven before. Now that I understand what's happening and that it's normal it doesn't bother me. Initially though it did feel abnormal.Anyway, I don't really see it as an issue as long the requested boost is at the manifold
Didn't make this connection consciously, however I notice I subconsciously somehow prefer the feel of expert mode even if I'm not planning on taking some hard bends, so might very well be like that, possibly even in third gear now that I think of it. Will try to confirm...In sport or track mode with TC off (well, in "expert" mode) there is definitely more power available in 1st and 2nd. I assume they use the throttle as a traction control strategy in addition to whatever other clever things it is used for.
